I have. I think people have gone mad. It would be less insulting if they actually knew politics. They can’t even tell me the constitution or name the branches of government. But they are so emotionally attached. What is this society if not a clown world.

I didn’t cut him out of my life because he voted for trump, I cut him out of my life for being a piece of shit who compared the “oppression” conservatives had under Biden and people literally being snatched off the street.

The fact that he voted for trump is just the shit icing on that turd cake.

Yeah I’m not interested in having a relationship with anyone who voted for a well known rapist so they could re-segregate the government.

The great thing about family is you get to talk to them. If they’re so upset about who you voted for, maybe listen to why it upsets them so much, and take the time to patiently explain what led you to that choice. Some members of my family voted for things I vehemently disagree with and we have never properly fallen out over it. In fact, I’ve changed a few minds because I am politically engaged and can usually answer their questions satisfactorily.
If, however, they were to vote for a fascist because they are fascist, then I would cut them off. But not because of their vote. Because of their fascism. Fortunately my family are not like that.

Besides the family that lives in my house, I don’t really interact with much of my family. I invite my dad and his wife for holidays, and I try not to talk with my mom any more than absolutely possible. (Unrelated to politics, she’s at least got that part right)

I’ve unfriended people on Facebook for it, but that’s mostly ceremonial as I only use Facebook to message certain long distance friends.

If anyone has decided to cut me out for my politics, it would only save me the trouble of having to interact with pieces of shit.

I have family I don’t see a lot but that’s more because of distance than their leanings. I cut out all of Facebook because 1) screw Zuck and 2) not worth the brain rot of knowing what some family members think and 3) so many ads. We all get along pretty well regardless of taboo subjects.
