Any opinions on the chances of Legalise Cannabis to gain a seat this election? They came very close to beating One Nation to a QLD senate seat in 2022.
I wish that we had so few problems I could vote on this single issue, but stopping any Australian version of maga needs to be priority number 1, and then about 50 other things before legal weed. Honestly, it’s not hard or expensive to get a prescription, you can do it all over the phone.

Where’s the contradiction? Just preference them above Labor, Coalition, One Nation, Palmer, etc…
Believe me I will. But I’ll put a socialist, green, or certain independent candidate first.
They’re a single-issue party but the members behind them still have some substance. Before joining the party, many had successfully advocated and pushed bills surrounding environmental issues. Coupled in with the economic aspects of cannabis production, I think they’re a party with quite a bit of substance. (no pun intended) my main goal in voting for them is to make legal cannabis a more popular policy amongst lib/lab which can be implemented to absorb votes. They’re pretty similar to the Greens minus the ‘we need moar votes to do anything’ aspect.
They might get lucky, it’s mostly a party to let people vote support for a simple single issue. There’s plenty of tax money and economy to churn if legal weed becomes a thing here. Not to mention the research showing it softens other drugs issues.
For me, I’m preferencing them well above Labor and Liberal on my ballot, but they’re not at the top either.
It was nice to see NSW Legalise Cannabis MP Jeremy Buckingham stand on the parliament balcony to support the labour unions marches last year (we didn’t have a Greens member involved like the QLD rally did). Apart from that, my impression is they’re a one-issue party and I haven’t bothered investigating individual candidates.
Oh did everyone know that election funding is given ONLY to whoever you pick as first? Even when your vote trickles down to whoever wins, that $3-5(or so?) is only provided to your first choice?
I’ll still be putting the Animal Justice Party number 1, but it’s good to know.
(provided the candidate or group receives at least 4% of those first preferences)

Election funding is payable in relation to any candidate or group who receives at least four per cent of the total first preference votes in an election.
2022 Federal Election: Election funding payments finalised page. Interesting to see which parties and independents received funding. Legalise Cannabis Australia received a (relatively small) $15,121.09.

If they kicked that half baked cooker moron Malcom Roberts out of parliament I would be so happy!
