Surely you learn an area pretty quickly. Worst case you may ask what major road something is near and you would know that and then can quickly look at the map to find the small road. Like I say my street name and if someone asks where about is that I give them the name of the major road next to it.

Depends what it’s used for. Coworkers use it to generate memes a fair bit. I also use it as a starting point for looking stuff up occasionally, partly because so many fucking websites are AI generated now I may as well ask a more direct question to AI instead. Then once I have a more specific answer I can look that up somewhere more reliable.

Recent example there being looking up things to grow in my allotment, give general goals and conditions and get a list of things. Then see what sounds interesting from that list and look that up on the RHS website.

Yeah, kinda wish they replaced it with a tram line tbh. Urban sprawl between 2 towns that are now 1 continuous urban area, original train line was a few stations at each end but not much in the middle and the current route has a bus that stops all the way down it. A tram would be great for that.

Is that an inspection by the dealer that sold the car, or anyone else? In the UK and I assume many other places the roadworthiness test can be done at loads of different places and there is much less that they check. Pretty sure you don’t even need a functional speedometer although they will recommend fixing it.

Where I live has a pretty good bike route along an old railway to the next town over and yet still loads of people opt to drive. Despite driving taking longer due to all the traffic!

I suppose quite a few people do cycle too tough. But it just seems crazy to me that so many willingly sit in that traffic every day.

Yeah I would generally agree to that. I got mine for £600 and admit it’s more than I really needed. But it’s a pretty nice bike and I use it a lot. It was the cheaper model from the more expensive brand so my thinking was it’s probably a pretty good frame and I can replace other parts as I go.

Replaced the tyres after about 2 years, new ones cost like twice as much but marathon plus touring tyres should last far longer and are much more puncture resistant.

You can cycle a lot without getting into racing bikes though.

Walking you are going to want shoes. Shoes wear through and actually cost more than a decent regular bike per km.

That does assume the Chinese housing market is the same as in many western countries though. But if so, bring it on.
