I’ve come to accept that Firefly is never coming back. But I have a few moments when I think about how it would have gone if HBO or some other related cable channel picked up the torch and ran with it. It would have been great to get a minimum of 3 seasons out of that show. It seemed like they had enough content and character building to show.
Yeah, I don’t struggle with boycotting Amazon. The only times I’ve really used Amazon in the past have been for PC parts, audio headphones, and a random thing or two. I do my absolute best not to buy needless things as it is, and I know that there are plenty of other websites to use if I really need to get something online. (I knew this was gonna come in handy one day ha.) Here’s a website called amazonalts.org. It’s curated websites/online stores for the ethical consumer in mind. The categories are Food, Home, Clothes, Beauty, Books, Electronics, and Miscellaneous.
Lasagne. And I hate Mondays.
You’re welcome
I’ll be watching the last two episodes of Star Trek Enterprise season 3. I’m looking forward to the ending of the season. One more season to go, and then I proceed to Star Trek: Discovery. All part of my astronomical goal to watch all of the Star Trek shows and movies in chronological order.
If you didn’t already know, there is an Alien (and Predator) community called !lv426@lemmy.world. Come join us! =)

I would suggest setting your account to filter by “new” content. “Scale” is also useful. IIRC: It filters like “new” but uses an algorithm to show content from more of the subbed communities, instead of only showing content most recently posted, from your subs.
Thanks for the reminder to go to sleep.
Well first off, welcome back!
What kind of content or communities (that’s what we call subreddits,) are you looking for?
If you’re looking for communities, I would suggest starting with this nifty website It has a visual database of… (checks notes) 28,178 communities (!?!) and 563 instances to choose from.
If you’re looking for content, there’s nothing wrong with searching all and new. Check out !communitypromo@lemmy.ca for help finding newer communities. And here is a long list of communities that aren’t political, full of memes or tech.
And if you have any questions about Lemmy, head over to !newtolemmy@lemmy.ca for assistance.
A few things to comment on.
| I didn’t get an iPhone until 2021 or so and all of my android phones before then ran slow in a year or so.
Like your computer, smartphones slow down when you have a lot of things running/idling in the background. They also slow down with bloatware. Cleaning your phone’s memory every so often is a smart practice to incorporate into your ownership of the device. CCleaner is the one I download every so often to do a scan and clean what I can. There’s bound to be a better app option, but that’s the one I know about and have used before.
And just so we’re on the same page, I bought a refurbished Pixel 2 back in early 2020 and it’s been running fine for me. Haven’t noticed any issues with operations except for the screen and the battery not holding its charge as long as it once did. But to be fair, my screen has a few hairpin cracks in it from dropping it on accident a couple of times. And the battery hold on any smartphone degrades with age and usage.
| That never happened with my iPhones.
You’re either super lucky or you’re the kind of person that gets a new smartphone every year or so; for some reason or another.
As I mentioned above, smartphones naturally and unnaturally get slower as they age. But let’s not forget that planned obsolescence is very much being used across the board.
What’s the conversion rate of one MeowMeowBeanz to one Schrute buck?
As a recovering karma whore, I can attest to this.
You are trapped in a room of 5 old people who barely know how to use a computer. You must survive in there for 1 hours. The catch is, that they will look at you and ask you a lot of questions about computer related things. Often times they will repeat their question moments later.
Ooh my. That’s a toss up. Go through this or cut off my lower leg. I think I’m gonna go with the latter.
For a few reasons I determined. But feel free to ask it for other TTRPGs.
I’m currently playing in a DnD 5e campaign and wanted to hear and get inspired by others’ wit, charm, and shenanigans.
Something that I believe a lot of people around me misunderstand, is the fact that I hate “people,” but also want to be connected, share moments, create moments, create things with them, and outlive the biggest assholes of the world.
I hate people who have made life for those they will never meet, worse than ever. I hate those who can’t seem to wrap their heads around the idea that no one wants to be owned in any way. I hate those who didn’t pause to put themselves in someone else’s circumstances and realize the negative effects they can have on them; and ultimately, change their course of action accordingly. I hate those who live their lives for the sake of obtaining more and more money, commodities, wealth, or power over others. The list of reasons goes on, but my time to extend it does not.
I have a thing called ADHD that makes it really hard for me to read novels. Hell, any story really. But I got really into the TV show and was excited to see such a great TV production come about. The stories were often enthralling and the twists and turns of the material in the first four seasons were amazing. It was I believe at the beginning of season 5 that I heard that George R. R. Martin hadn’t finished the sixth book yet, and there was concern that it would conflict with the TV show adaptation. Story, characters, and conclusion being the largest concerns. It was very concerning to me that by the time that season 6 was announced, The Winds of Winter was still not close to being done. After early season 6 is where I (and I believe a lot of others,) felt like the TV show was starting to stall out and then started to come down in story, character, and outcomes. Season 7 was a mess and the enjoyment of watching was lackluster. But I and most likely a large amount of other fans, felt like they had spent to much time getting ‘involved’ in the story and characters that we just wanted to see where this thing would land. They should have extended the time between the release and production of each season when it was clear that George R. R. needed time to finish things. Extending the wait time I strongly believe would have been accepted by most of the fans as it would have in theory, allowed for the seasons to not slope downward in the previously mentioned qualities. Even if I had to wait up to two years for each of the next seasons, I had concluded that I would rather that accrue than for them to release worse and worse seasons and episodes because they didn’t have the full story to utilize.
I was pissed about what they had done to the series. Season 8 was an abomination.
As the years went on, it became clear to me, that George R. R, Martin was not going to finish the last two books. And honestly… How could he?! The sure amount of backlash that the TV show got when it didn’t stick the landing. I can only imagine that he would rather die a hero for making what he did and not die a villain for what people might think of the last two books of the series.
