It’s a big thing because it’s much easier to make fun of an objectively better lifestyle choice (avoiding meat or Microsoft etc.) than it is to try and argue against it. Especially because that would force people to question their own behaviour and that can be difficult and hurtful.

Technology@lemmy.world•Google’s use of student data could effectively ban Chromebooks from Denmark schoolsEnglish
1·2 years agoI teach technology in Denmark. I am so glad I convinced the school administrators to let me buy a bunch of refurbished Thinkpads and throw Linux on them, instead of being roped into either Google or Microsoft hell like so many other schools. The students seem to enjoy using the machines too (especially after they discovered Minetest).

Linux@lemmy.ml•Is Linux pretty much unusable with an Nvidia GPU?
5·2 years agoCurrently running Pop!_OS 22.04 with a 3090 GPU, and it purrs like a happy cat. Getting significantly better performance than when the same hardware ran Windows 10.
The most unexpected plot twist of the century would be Putin coming out as trans. Would be interesting to see how republicans would react to that.
