what’s in the middle
the implication of einsteins mass-energy equivalence formula is mind-blowing to me. one gram of mass, if perfectly converted to energy, makes 25 GWh. that means half the powerplants in my country could be replaced with this theoretical “mass converter” going through a gram of fuel an hour. that’s under 10 kilograms of fuel a year.
a coal plant goes through tons of fuel a day.
energy researchers, get on it
so it’s right
well he is clinically insane.
the one-two punch of the $40B lobster and the 300-step garbage can nachos cracked his mind.
depends on whether matt mullenweg knows you exist
also i’ve only just realized why he named the company auto-matt-ic oh my god
yupyup, just send HTML over the wire. it’s fine.
the biggest speedup would probably come from using proper schemas that can be efficiently parsed. but we’ve made our bed out of ad-hoc protocols.
it would be more of a double standard if the two groups were on equal footing, but they’re not.
didn’t know donny was a forth programmer
eos is as close to vanilla arch as you can get while still being plug-and-play, basically. they have a remote for all their own stuff and if you remove that from pacman, you’re running normal arch. the main thing that’s different is they ship with common-sense configs and a graphical installer. no manjaro-like “kernel update service”.
it’s honestly perfectly stable. if you’re worried about things breaking when the kernel updates, run a LTS kernel.
anything that deserializes arbitrary json will put it into a hash table, right? it would definitely speed up the web.
telling people how much money i make. i want everyone at my job to be aware of any inconsistent salary payments so they can use it to ask for adjustments.
I thought Jesus was the cross religion
i think that’s basically us only.
i feel like you’re underselling our dependency on “old fish” and “just boil some grains”
not really a good way to get the text out of a pdf though. then again, turns out neither is pandoc.
damn it, you’re right. should probably have checked that…
$ pandoc doc.pdf -o doc.txt
Edit: welp, pandoc can’t do that. pdftotext
it is.
he bought $30 worth of lobster tails and made a sausage, and he says multiple times in the video that he thinks it was too much money. but people kept requesting even stupider sausages so he just got more and more annoyed that he had spent the money, and over the years the running gag became that every time the lobster is mentioned the price goes up
Edit: also if you compare his tone in that video to one of his more recent ones you’ll understand what i meant about insanity (“three mark ruffalooooos!!!”)
