I would be checking out all the texture packs and fiddling with the QOL improvements/settings as well. I never got very far in Twilight Princess (I never had it originally), but wouldn’t mind giving it another go when I get a good setup going again.

Logically, you’re correct. Having to keep up with one extra thing, however, is probably more of a nuisance to these types of people. Of course, I’m just guessing at this point.

Laziness, maybe.

Phones have gotten bigger and heavier. It’s easier to hold the device at a lower height when it’s on speakerphone. That’s my guess.

Maybe, yeah, but people can’t seem to make up their mind about it and agree on it. The automated solution that I presented would be a compromise to keep it, but in an arguably better way.
