51·3 months agoThis right here. People who complain about this obviously don’t know how concept artists work. At this stage in the process, AI isn’t replacing artists, it’s mostly replacing shutterstock and Pinterest.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Most people's earliest memories are at around 3 or 4 years of age, which correlates with the age kids start asking "why" for everything. Kids start asking why when they become self-aware.English
21·8 months agoIt’s called “Theory of Mind”. It’s basically the concept of understanding that other people know things that you don’t and it starts when children are around the age of three. VSauce talked about it in one of is videos. It’s incredibly interesting: https://youtu.be/evQsOFQju08?t=5m50s

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What's the best way to respond to someone who says "transracial is just as valid as transgender"? (Transracial referring to people who identify as another race like Rachel Dolezal)
2·9 months agoI’m not saying the physical traits you are talking about aren’t real. I’m saying you’re using the wrong word to describe them. Biologically there is no such thing as different human races. You are talking about ethnic groups.
If you take two people from an African country they can be genetically closer to an European or Asian person than to each other.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What's the best way to respond to someone who says "transracial is just as valid as transgender"? (Transracial referring to people who identify as another race like Rachel Dolezal)
4·9 months agoTo quote the first paragraph of the Wikipedia article on Race (human categorization):
Modern science regards race as a social construct, an identity which is assigned based on rules made by society. While partly based on physical similarities within groups, race does not have an inherent physical or biological meaning.

Technology@lemmy.world•By Default, Signal Doesn't RecallEnglish
5·10 months agoMan, I really love Signal. Not only is it open source and they actually give a shit about privacy, they also don’t shy away to give the finger to companies that don’t. It’s a shame they have to put their time into ways to stop Mocrosoft from spying, but I’m glad they’re doing it.
There are no different races in humans. The sooner we stop promoting this unscientific lie, the better.

13·10 months agoCapitalism didn’t used to be like this because it was still developing, but it was always going to become this. Enshitification is not a bug, it’s a feature. Capitalism is supposed to work like this. And when it wasn’t, it was just because it wasn’t there yet, mainly due to technical limitations.

Technology@lemmy.world•In the most delicious irony imaginable, the notorious early 2000s 'You wouldn't steal a car' anti-piracy campaign may have used an 'illegal' fontEnglish
112·11 months agoSligthly off topic but I think this actually may be some kind of Mandela effect, because I think a large number of people actually think the commercial said ‘You wouldn’t download a car’ because of all the memes but it actually said ‘You wouldn’t steal a car’

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Could I render the computer-generated graphics from Toy Story (1995) in real time using a single modern home computer?
47·11 months agoI also work in 3D and I wanna say yes. If we’re talking solely about the technical aspect, real-time render today can definitely hold up to, or even surpass, the quality of renders from 30 years ago.
If it would look exactly the same and how much work it would be to recreate the entire movie in a real time engine is another question.

I love unhook so much. Using Youtube without recommended videos is a blessing. I only see what I wanna see, not a single thing the algorithm wants me to watch.
