The sad thing is that if pro-transit folks did this sort of thing, it would absolutely be paraded around as an excuse to discredit the entire pro-transit position and kill the proposal by default, but when classists/NIMBYs/car-brains engage in blatant bad faith they’re never collectively punished for it in the same way.
The side trying to make positive change is always held to a higher double standard than the side trying to maintain the status quo.
In a way positive change double standard might be a protection against corruption, because if the positive change isn’t even able to withstand scrutiny how is the change planning to be kept up. I’m not arguing for it, I just assume that this is one of the reasons it is there (and status quo bias of course).
Sounds like fraud
It is only fraud if the perpetrators are treated as fraudsters.
Otherwise, it’s another Wednesday.
Is it illegal to lie? They are not trying to steal money. Yes they’re misrepresenting themselves on purpose but is it illegal? I have no clue.
Lying for personal gain is fraud still, though not criminal.
Customers can decide if they want to conduct business with the business after the fact. I know I wouldn’t want to.
Presumably they see it as somehow affecting their bottom line? Guess it could just be outright bigotry though.
Political mischief maybe? Making a false sense of community sentiment or opinion.
Hello fellow humans, I like eating parts of plants and flesh from some animals but not other animals. Also, how silly are bus lanes.
That sounds a lot like me! I enjoy adorning the walls of my living space with objects that are not so much functional as they are ornamental. It really helps to lower the internal pressure of my human blood, which is the opposite of what happens whenever I see one of those tacky bus lanes.
Ahh yes, we are very similar. I often deck myself out with an external sheathing and even put some extra treads on my feet. I have a bipedal configuration which works very well with my bicycle, the best method of transport!
I haven’t checked, do we have an equivalent of r/totallynotrobots?
