      That would just incentivize our politicians to accept bribes

      It’s far easier for them to get away with corruption than it would be to bring up the average household income of the whole country

      It wouldn’t even have to be outright corruption, they can just pass very favorable laws for certain wealthy corporations, where they will coincidentally be offered a highly paid “consulting” role after leaving office

      Nah cut the average in half and then cut it in half again. They should live like poor people they refuse to help.
