Does that sound legit? 😮
(I currently live in Europe, considering to move to AU. I’d rather have a realistic overview, with ups and downs presented fairly, so I’m curious.)
As a backdrop, Australia is among the top 10 least corrupt countries in the world.
The QLD Crime and Corruption Commission website has many examples of the kind of corruption they find. It’s mostly to do with procurement and employment fraud, conflicts of interest, occasional dodgy police and major crime ie organised crime.
It is true the CCC is grossly under resourced and in need of reform, however as with many anti-corruption bodies, they become politicised and in this case the state government (either persuasion) is dragging the chain.
Bro, if you are talking about Queensland, it’s a land of light and sunshine compared to the days of Joh Bjelke-Petersen
Corruption isn’t generally regarded as a big issue (except for political ‘donations’ owning and enforcing a 2 party system lol), but if you’re from Europe, each state is pretty different, and even areas within cities, so you want to have your eyes wide open.

Thanks for the response!
