No one could credibly accuse me of being a gamer, but Steve has grown on me as a journalist over the past few years. A copyright strike for 75 seconds of the president speaking in a three-hour documentary is so firmly in fair use territory that I want some of what the lawyers were smoking.

When a documentary about GPU scarcity is taken down by a financial news giant, it’s not about copyright. It’s about who controls the narrative on scarcity, speculation, and power. The black market isn’t the problem. The system that created it is. And the real story is always the one they don’t want you to see.

DMCA abuse is far too common. With this being clear abuse, and somewhat high profile, I wonder if there’s any chance of this bringing some real attention to it.

FYI if you didn’t watch the documentary, it’s great. Well worth the watch (when it’s back).

While they are absolute POS i’m glad they did this because this is the perfect example of “shooting yourself in the foot”, they drew more attention to this by acting this way instead of ignoring it and it’s getting SOOOO much more coverage.
