Took a whole bunch to my sister’s farmers’ market stand, last Saturday.

That is SO cool
I want to grow ruhbarb, but ive no idea how to start. Ive never seen seeds for it or starters…
If it’s not available locally you can order bare root crowns online.
so you know the leaves are poisonous and you should only eat the stem? just checking…
IIRC, the larger a crop grows, the less flavorful it is. For example, most Award Winning Biggest vegetables are nigh inedible (to humans), and often are pulped for fertilizer, etc. after the contest. As a lifelong fan of rhubarb, the green stalk gives me pause in this regard, as well. 😅
While this is true, the fully grown rhubarb stalks dry into lightweight sticks that make cool noises when you swing them around
Wisteria vines are natural whips. Even better whips when braided.
I like the way you garden!
Rhubarb is best grown in pitch black sheds for this reason. The energy goes to growing the stem and not the leaves.
Not a rhubarb expert but I agree, they stalk turns reddish when ready.
Where is this plant? If it is in the US it is very early for rhubarb. When I live in New York state it was usually ripe towards the end of the summer.
This week and next are basically prime rhubarb season in Wisconsin. I have some gorgeous ruby red stalks out by my driveway.
No shit! TIL
Using xeno-tech to grow bigger leaves is cheating. Maybe that shit flies at the county fair on Xyphlqtrz, but not here on Earth!
That’s an incredible leaf, but we’re just going to ignore the clear shot of an extraterrestrial here?
There are (literally) bigger things to talk about. Like that giant leaf.
That’s impressive. What sorts of things do you guys make with it? I’m partial to rhubarb sauce (goes great on pancakes, I tried it on vanilla icecream once too) and strawberry rhubarb pie.
Strawberry rhubarb pie. Mmmmmmmmmmm
You can chop it, saute it in butter with onions, add a splash of chicken stock or white wine, mash it up, and it makes a nice sauce for lean pork cuts :)
ooo this is a new idea to me, love it!
We give it to my sister, not sure what she makes. I think sauce or jam.
This only makes sense if you’re Thumbelina-sized, otherwise wtf. Crazy! Nice work.
Man, rhubarb pie with some vanilla custard is superb, my mom made it at least once every summer during my whole childhood. Gotta make some soon.
Whoa! Is this wild, or grown? How old is this plant?
It was on the property when we bought it.
Man these new UFO files are legit
I’ve never seen one with a green stem before!
I love how huge my rhubarb gets. It’s at the point where I need to split up the crown and relocate some.
We should really do that, as well.
That’s not a leaf, that’s a whole blanket.
You should start holding up your rhubarb leaves like trophy fish!!

couldn’t help myself…
