If you were working for the most vile military in the world and did not engage in sabotage, you at minimum contributed by freeing some other monster from doing your task instead of directly participating in an invasion.
You are saying this as if combat is the only bad thing your empire does, as if colonial subjugation, kidnapping, torture, and the like are not, and as of things like military logistics are not done in service of those goals.
