I know it’s green text, but assuming they called the suicide hotline before as well they must have done their job too
Next day the Domino’s guy is calling the suicide hotline because he got fired from dominos for offering free pizza.
A little kindness goes a long, long way.
This. I’ve been feeling shitty this past week, and there was a woman at the grocery store who made sure to tell me to have a wonderful rest of my day, simply because I moved a shopping cart out of her way (she was in one of those motorized carts I assume because she probably has a hard time walking). It was like a light switch on my mood.
That is to say, we need more people like that lady, who genuinely want people to have a good day and unknowingly make people feel better for just being nice.
I have a simple rule - if someone makes me feel something positive, I tell them. It started when I was hanging out with friends downtown and a girl ran up to compliment my shoes, then immediately walked off. It felt great, especially because she left before I could wonder what her angle was
So now, I make a point to speak up. If someone says something funny I overhear, I tell them I thought so. If I think they had a cool shirt, I say so. Then I just go back to my own business
