This is the best summary I could come up with:

Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil has accused her Liberal predecessor, now Opposition Leader Peter Dutton, of “starving” the immigration system of resources and allowing criminal syndicates to exploit weaknesses.

The home affairs minister made the comments while responding to the Rapid Review into the Exploitation of Australia’s Visa System, conducted by former Victoria Police chief commissioner Christine Nixon.

Ms O’Neil told 7.30 that deficiencies in immigration compliance are such that “criminal gangs from around the world are actually looking to Australia and seeing facilitated abuse through the migration system as a great benefit of coming to operate here”.

Asked about whether the public servants in her own department, including embattled secretary Michael Pezzullo, shared responsibility for failures in Australia’s immigration, Ms O’Neil once again blamed her predecessor.

“Peter Dutton is the person who has to come forward and answer the fundamental question here, which is how he could so dishonestly present himself as a protector of our borders and provide preside over such a broken migration system.”

Mr Pezzullo is currently the subject of an inquiry by the Australian Public Service Commission after leaked emails and text messages published by Nine Media raised questions over his political activities.
