Sailoring has always been a dangerous job. The past 50 years os the exemption, not the rule.
Don’t worry, they are still in the web pages too
I live in a small college town in rural ohio. I listen to our local golden oldies radio station in my car because the songs are great, the ads are mostly local businesses, and i get local news from it. Although we also get a lot of Medishare scams, snake oil from supplement companies. But the ads are much better than the radio back when I lived in Houston 10 years ago. Even the Cleveland stations are pretty light on ads these days.
My main gripe with my local station is that the small conglomerate they are in all play Christmas songs at the same time in the winter. I understand the incentive behind synching up ads across your controlled stations, but why do they all insist on playing Christmas carols at the quarter hour across all channels? I fucking hate Christmas carols.
Absolute free speech has never been viable. That has ALWAYS just been a weapon from the worst people imaginable to justify their shitty beliefs.
Did you know that Venice sits at the same latitude as Minneapolis?
Wearher and local geography play hugs roles in amount of annual sunshine.
Scandanavia covers very similar latitudes as Alaska does. The mountains, storms have huge impacts on yearly sun
In a fight between socialism and fascism, liberals will ALWAYS support the fascists.
I grew up stateside, but it blows anything we have in Ohio out of the water. Cleveland is the only city on the state that has am actual light rail, which functions ok (i did get stuck in the downtown station for 45 minutes due to a breakdown while we received zero information from anyone at the station. A lady had to call RTA to figure out what was going on while we sweat it out on a hot and crowded underground stop). Toledo and Elyria have an Amtrak station, Cincinnati has about 4 miles of streetcar rail downtown and a few bus lines, while Columbus only has buses for a metro population of over 2.2 million. Where i grew up, St. Louis, the city wanted to expand rail routes out to the suburbs, but the residents of the suburbs shut it down because the white residents were “worried about crime” coming into the suburbs from downtown. Our systems are absolutely fucked out here.
We aren’t just talking small towns though. Any city that isn’t New York, Chicago, or Boston might as well not have any rail service at all. Houston has 22.7 miles of passenger railway that is only located downtown. Columbus Ohio has a metro of 2.2 million people and doesn’t have a single inch of passenger rail. Cleveland has an OK system by American standards, which i use whenever i go to Cleveland, but the only option for me to take a train into Cleveland from where i live in NW Ohio would take an hour longer than just driving there outright.
Don’t be dogging on Newcastle Transport like that. My grandpa used to be able to get anywhere in the UK by walking to the North Shields station and hopping on the light rail for free to Newcastle station. Just because the southerns ruined their rail systems doesn’t mean the Geordies trashed theirs.
They have been doing machine learning for novel proteins for over 15 years now. “AI” is just a buzzword grant writers have to add these days to have any chance at funding is all
AI just gives executives an excuse to layoff their staff without spooking their investors.
I bought a stand mixer with the credit i was given instead and cancelled my Amazon account
The only time a tried to buy a laptop from Amazon it was advertised as 16Gb of RAM. What was delivered was 8G with an 8GB SD card taped to the box and Amazon refused to give me an actual refund. So i just assume any computer you buy on Amazon is fraudulent now
Do you want to go out and pick strawberries for 12 hours a day all week? It’s absolutely brutal work and why anyone who has an opportunity to do anything else takes it.
I live in a small town, so everyone at least knows who both judges in town are. 10 years ago one had a decent reputation, the other everyone hated because he was just a bully in the courtroom. He was suspended by the state for a year back in 2021 because he started harassing a woman at the back of the court room who was minding her own business, commenting about her brother who OD’ed the week before, and then held her in contempt of court for not submitting to a drug test.
Anyway, when his suspension was up he ran for his vacant seat to try and get his pension back. So I joyfully voted against that asshole and was very satisfied to see him get absolutely clobbered since everyone in town hated him.
I’m willing to give it the first 3 Halo games as well as Mass Effect.
It’s because that is the only thpe of machine learning/ai that C-suites and MBAs can wrap their head around. They keep pushing it because they need to look like they ar doing something at their know-nothing/do-nothing job.
