The amount of April fucking 1st videos that would now be indistinguishable from normal videos alone makes the idea of upload date removal outright dangerous in my opinion.
What the hell am I watching
Wait YouTube is disabling upload date and view counter?
Yes, this is exactly why it’s so important to not leave things unchallenged! Human brains are so susceptible to absorbing ideas through osmosis by just reading statements while scrolling.
Nah we were just chilling at the bottom of the ocean the whole time. We like to pop up occasionally to confound scientists and fishermen.
You say that but even hearing that I still feel like I want something like that. You’re probably right though.
Neat, sounds useful!
In general I tend to differentiate between creator and publisher in all art. It would have been a more shocking inclusion had it been a movie made by Disney themselves - at least to me. I’m open to being wrong about how much Disney meddled in Pixar stories pre 2006 purchase though. I can’t say it’s a subject I’ve studied at length. I know there is a book about Pixar but I haven’t read it. Do you have any sources?
This article is a great rundown of Pixar and Disney, but while the latter did publish Pixar’s movies through the nineties and early naughties they had very little creative influence over them - especially compared to what would come post acquisition. Even the four “transitional” films (that had already begun production in 2006) are clearly more Pixar than Disney.
I hadn’t seen it before so my first thought was “uhhh… Superman?”
I mean were those buildings even evacuated? He probably killed a fair few innocent bystanders there 😂
If going by viewers I can’t imagine it’s anything other than League of Legends. Which is funny because people tell me it’s a fairly shit spectator sport (stale meta, low kills etc).
Noodle soup. I know it’s a cliche but there is just something about eating it piping hot with a nice ceramic spoon.
!oldmovies@lemmy.world for the retro lovers.
I’m interested, but link does not seem to be working for me. I suggest adding a link with this format !musicvideos@lemmy.world to the text body.
That’s so funny, Sweden had a similar thing going with Goldie Hawn movies! After The Girl From Petrovka was translated literally (“Tjejen från Petrovka”), the next 8 out of 11 Goldie Hawn movies had their titles changed and translated as “Tjejen som…”(The girl who…) despite having nothing else in common apart from being comedies.
So “läderlapp” is an old Swedish slang or colloquialism for bat. Back in the 50s when Batman was first brought to Sweden English literacy was a lot worse than it is now, and translating titles and names were much more common. A direct translation of Batman would be “fladdermusmannen” - which is a very unwieldy name - so they settled for a then-more-common slang for “the bat”. It does sound a little better, though it would have been best to just do what finally happened from the 80s and let Batman remain untranslated.
Pinging @BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world - probably of interest to you?
