I love this! May I share on my blog and with my newsletter subscribers at Punching Up Press? We’re probably in boxes #2 and #3, with a lot of readers starting off in box #1.

Thank you! I got your email, will reply soon.
I emailed you, but wanted to reply here that I love this! I don’t have much to add as I’m having the same problem with my own project trying to make privacy easier for people like, say, my friends and family. They have to really WANT it to go through all those inconvenient steps of changing to alternative products. Even getting people invested in changing their app settings is hard enough!
I think the below commenter is right that people will start to care more when they see what’s going to happen with their data under the new administration (in the U.S., at least). We all thought it was a good trade-off for free and cheap products, and soon we may be faced with our data being used to target us personally.
The only thing I can think of is, have you tried sending info about your sites to relevant news outlets, newsletters, etc.? I got a little traction from being mentioned in two newsletters: Cory Doctorow’s newsletter and the DeleteMe newsletter Incognito. I’m planning on mailing out print press copies of my free book later in May…I have a PR friend who will be helping me with that.
Oh, very cool! Yes, do reach out if you decide to do it.
Hi! I finally got the EPUB onto the site as a direct download.
What’s your language? Would the products.links still make sense to readers of this new version?
In any case, it’s fine with me as long as you’re not making. monetary profit from the poster. Also, will you please share a copy I can add to my website?
Also, I made a poster of a similar infographic I created several years ago when I owned a content studio…I forgot all about that and think I may do it for the English version as well! I can sell it at cost. A friend also suggested I turn it into a mouse pad.
Yes, I’d say this is for beginners—say, my mom—who are heavily in the Google ecosystem and don’t know how to get out. Maybe I should change the focus away from privacy, since Google has many other issues besides privacy that made me leave.
Thanks! Oh yes, I knew that…I use GrapheneOS myself. I’ll check these others out.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! If there was one browser from my list you’d replace with Vanadium, which would it be?
I use ProtonVPN and have to turn it off to log into my bank, credit card, and other financial institutions. Also I seem to have to do a lot more Captcha puzzles than I used to, and have had online orders flagged as suspicious. in some cases, it seems like they’re just trying to protect your accounts. In others, it seems like they’re throwing a hissy fit because they feel they have a God-given right to your private data.
Aw, thanks! I hope you’ll spread the word.
Lots of them in the book! I couldn’t fit them into a small space.
Haha, I kept using “Pixel 7” and “GrapheneOS” as search terms. I’m not used to having an Android phone and didn’t even know what to properly call it, I guess. :)
Thank you! It’s all set up now. The double-tap was the trick!
Yes! It worked, thank you! I never ran across these instructions in my searches.
I’ve been thinking of creating a free class to go along with my (also free) book DISENGAGE: Opting Out—and Finding New Options—to Reclaim Your Life from Spammers, Scammers, Intrusive Marketers and Big Tech…which seems to mesh nicely with what you’re doing…except I’m US-based. If you get your nonprofit started, let me know if you might be interested in hosting the class! I planned for weekly readings/assignments, a group chat, and maybe weekly formalized chats or cslls.
Yes, I’m one of them, haha! It would be great to have Linux or a privacy OS…though I haven’t found a privacy OS I think will be any good.
I can send you an EPUB directly! Later (when I have time) I’ll put a button on there for direct EPUB download as well as the various stores. You can email me at punchinguppress@proton.me if you feel comfortable doing so, or I’ll post again when EPUB is on the site.
Hmm…I’d say solutions for people who are not as tech savvy, and how to implement them. Even things as simple as how to change your default browser and search engine, suggestions for different OS’s and how to install them on any kind of computer, different options for Microsoft software, etc. For example, I’m on a Mac just because it’s still good and I don’t want to pay for a new one…I’d love either some simple ways to “harden” it and/or install Linux.
BUT…your audience is obviously more tech savvy and that’s OK too! I think we need info for all levels.
Haha, I always love a good infographic! Who can I credit for the infographic and links? I have only like 65 subscribers since I don’t do much promotion, but I think this will be very helpful to them.
