Piped isn’t working for me either anymore. I was using piped.adminforge.de before, but I’ve tried other instances too without any luck. It won’t load play any videos at all. I can search and find stuff without issues, but I can’t play anything.

I have, it’s really not very good IMO. It’s half decent in English. but it sucks ass in my native language, half the suggestions it’s giving are completely wrong or nonsensical in the context of the sentence.
How do you get the auto correct / language support to actually work? It’s less than useless for me, it hardly ever provides suggestions or corrects typos and doesn’t recognise a lot of regular words. Adjusting the aggressiveness/confidence in the settings does absolutely nothing.

Ah fair enough, didn’t know they also had a VPN service.
Does bitwarden integrate with something like simplemail to create unique addresses on the fly for accounts you create? That’s the feature I like the most about protons PW manager. I can easily just create a new mail address for an account somewhere that automatically forwards to my proton mail, but I can also answer with that unique mail from my proton mail.
I don’t use my mail for storage, and santiize content often, so I only need a few mb.
The 500gb on the drive is more than enough for my photo backup. There’s almost 10 years worth of photos on mine and I still have plenty space left.
Mega doesn’t come with VPN, encrypted email and PW manager with integrated simplemail that ties in to your proton mail.
Different levels of service of course costs different amounts. If you don’t want or need any of the other things, then yeah Mega could be the best option for you.

Technology@lemmy.world•European crash tester says carmakers must bring back physical controlsEnglish
0·2 years agoTechnically the only thing you’re allowed to fiddle with, while driving, is what you can operate from the steering wheel. You’re not supposed to fiddle with radio, AC etc. from the center console while driving even if it’s physical buttons.
I know people don’t drive like this, but you’re only allowed to take your hands off the steering wheel for changing gears if driving a manual, otherwise it’s two hands on there at all times…technically

0·2 years agoI’ve only used the upper end of the forerunner line. But getting 18+ days from the fenix with regular sports use seems well above spec, they spec it with up to 57h in GPS mode and 18d in regular smart watch mode without sports activities.

0·2 years agoI’ve never gotten more than a week tops from my Garmin watches, a handful of runs and it needs a recharge. And I need to fully charge it if it’s a long run or risk it dying on me while I’m running.

3·2 years agoI have a really hard time getting good local/region specific results for products, I mostly get US or UK results which are utterly useless to me since I’m not located either places. I’ve tried all sorts of shenanigans to limit the search to my area/country but it’s not really effective.

0·2 years agoPhysical buttons have wiring harness failure, mechanical failure, and software failure…pretty much exactly the same amount as the touchscreen solution.
What boggles my mind is that cheap, snappy, easy-to-use touchscreen interfaces have been a solved issue for well over a decade with the proliferation of smartphones…why the hell do car manufacturers suck so much at implementing it!? They’re all slow bug-ridden shitshows.

Technology@lemmy.world•Yes, you can have too many CPU cores - Ampere's 192-core chips break ARM64 Linux kernel in two-socket systems, company requests higher core count supportEnglish
0·2 years agoAccording to Phoronix, Ampere’s new CPUs have so many cores that Linux doesn’t support systems when two of Ampere’s 192-core chips (384 total cores) are installed in a single server. For now, the ARM64 Linux kernel only supports systems with 256 cores or less. To fix the issue, Ampere has submitted a patch proposing that the Linux kernel core limit be raised to 512
If you’re already at 384 cores in a dual-processor setup, isn’t raising the limit to 512 too little? Why not just go for 1024 now that they’re at it, especially since the method they proposed doesn’t increase kernel image memory footprint.

Garmin is pretty much gold standard when it comes to sports tracking. Most other brands are a step down, and I imagine a FOSS watch like the bangle.js is a significant step down from Garmin watches WRT sports tracking.
