In the interest of fairness, isn’t the difference between TenCent and the Chinese government basically just paperwork? I’ve always heard (anecdotally) that they work extremely close with the CCP.
Reddit confirmed for being into gaping Jesus.
I don’t think this is the death of Reddit, but I do think it’s the dumbing down of Reddit. A lot of the power users that spend all day interacting and posting are going to be the ones leaving. Reddit will turn from a social community back into a simple link aggregator with people posting articles and having the same discussions over and over again in the comments.
This is a huge frustration, at least format it intuitively for phones since you’re actively encouraging their use.

My instance gets an occasional hiccup but usually reloading the page gets me through. Even if Lemmy doesn’t end up with a Reddit-sized userbase I’m excited to see what it becomes. All-in-all feeling pretty positive about it.
r/edc and r/pens would be cool too.
Already made !paintball@midwest.social , here’s hoping some players start floating in.
You’re not wrong. A little more impactful for Christian though considering the time and effort he put in to arguably the best Reddit experience outside of old.reddit. Oh well… time for a new kid on the block.
God, I feel so bad for Christian. What a slap in the face….
Facebook is big in paintball circles. As much as I hate to say it their format works exceedingly well for organizing and buying/selling. As long as we censor appropriately it’s arguably the best format we’ve had thus far and I’m not sure anyone would be willing to part with it for a new platform.
