Honestly, because of my interest, as you can tell from my instance’s name and purpose. It’s the first furry instance I see and also the most popular one, that’s the initial reason.

Some browser supports blocking videos from autoplaying, Firefox is one of them but maybe chrome has similar options too. Check the browser settings.
I have quite a few recommendations. They are not quite non-freemium since they are free, but if your reason to prefer non-freemium is to avoid ads and in app purchases, then none of these games have them. They are all also open source and the link I provided below will be for their respective F-Droid version (note: some of these games are not available on Google Play Store):
This particular game requires far more attention and strategy than the ones listed above, but it can be played once every few minutes if you constantly save and reload (just don’t play online):
Basically phone speakers at home, earbuds while away. As basic as you can get.
Ori and the blind forest, a hat in time, deltarune. It’s amazing how good videogame soundtrack can get!
Pretty much every instance have defederated from at least one other instance, especially towards instances that hosts illegal images, ones with lackluster moderations, instances that support views they consider dangerous, ones filled with spam bots, and yes, sometimes out of drama or politics.
It’s more of a question of which instances they defederated from and why.
I assume we’re talking about spam bots, not bots whose entire purpose is to reupload content from elsewhere into here (i.e. reddit reposter bot).
Most likely, spam. Spam and scam has been quite a problem on Mastodon, so I wouldn’t be surprised if bad actors want to bring them here.
With the vast majority of Lemmy users being refuges from Reddit, it’s easy to see why “Reddit ded” circlejerk is strong. It’s the most relatable thing to everyone here, as nearly everyone here can relate. Not to mention it’s the only thing that unites us as it is the only thing we have in common, regardless of which community you used to belong to on Reddit.
But, I do see those posts less and less. As time went by, I’m sure people will move on from the circlejerk (probably to another circlejerk, but at least they do move on).
When it comes to the lack of content, that’s due to the lower number of users. It’s hard to say if whether it’ll get better as it depends on which kinds of content you are looking for.
But if you want more content, try sorting by new. Reddit death content will usually get more upvotes as it relates to more people than any other content, but the “new” sorting should eliminate this bias.
Do you come from a land down under? Where women glow and men plunder today is saturday.

You can, but that doesn’t make it consequence free. You know that bans exist, especially for a more egregious trolls.
There are quite a few furry/yiff art on yiffit.net instance.
But, to view nsfw art on lemmy, afaik, you must log into a lemmy account on an instance that supports nsfw (notably, lemmy.ml doesn’t supoort nsfw, but beehaw.org does so you’re safe), you also need to enable nsfw in your account settings.
If we could implement reddit scrapers (I think stealth for reddit is one of them), it might help us to acess reddit without using the shitty app or even an account. Scrapers aren’t exactly great if you want to post stuff on reddit, not that you would want to…
It’d be cool if lemmy implements features that’ll help switching instances easier, like what mastodon did.
Honestly, mainstream social media as a whole is practically a two minutes hate. There’s a reason why “doomscrolling” is a term. While I do miss the occasional upsetting posts on r/iamatotalpieceofshit or r/facepalm, honestly having them gone for me is better in the long run.
Generally, I tend to focus on smaller creators, their qualities are usually better.
The channels I watched include Nitro Rad (gaming), MattKC (tech), and Modern Vintage Gamer (retro console/gaming).
