If I’m sure about one thing, it’s that people are disgusting. I’d much rather avoid touching the door after using the toilet when my hands are clean. And even in the case that the door is disgusting, you can wash your hands both before and after.

Not an expert but as I’ve understood it it’s pretty similar to Fennec, less tracking and more private than your regular Firefox. I don’t know anything about either ones development team size or activity either so I can’t recommend one over the other. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can chime in.

My understanding is that USB-C as a standard is pretty all over the place. Some can fast charge etc. So my guess is that Apple will come up with some superduper performance USB-C or they’ll at least present it as such. And why not sooner? Because they were in the lab perfecting it.

Sure I agree to a degree but choosing a product which you know uses 100% slave labor to save a penny is downright evil. (And this is exaggeration obviously before anyone butts in.)
It’s a bit different to grab a snack at the counter (that’s likely partly produced in your country) than wait 1-2 months for a product to even arrive. Call it a convenience factor or whatever.
That said, I don’t know what kind of labor AliExpress goods use. Haven’t used them for a couple years but if I knew for sure (maybe someone here knows?) they used slave labor for example I probably would just choose to use some other company (which probably is just as likely to have unethical practices in some point of their supply chain tbf).
Honestly, I wholeheartedly support this move. For a couple of (obviously subjective) reasons:
Lemmy/kbin isn’t ready. If Beehaw staff were able to fork their own version of the base code with their moderation etc. design preferences in mind, this would be another thing – though even then it might not be enough to be worth it with the headache of fediverse moderation.
Closed system/community is more personal, hence more productive and less noisy. At least before it outgrows itself.
What I’d hope but is also more work and potentially creates conflicts, is that the new platform provides good moderation logging etc. Which I think is key feature to ensure trust and self policing.
