I thought the last one is about showing how small the side walks are.

Does it need to be that way? Wouldn’t it be better to care for the farms as a community in the first place?
The lobbying of the car industry is the only reason you need a car to get to your community. Trains could do it better.
Every now and then I measure distance in the time public transport needs to get me there.
Imagine paying money that benefits the entire community in multiple ways, even tough you don’t ride on public buses./j

[Migrated, see pinned post] Casual Conversation @lemm.ee•Would you rather always have a full phone battery or full tank of petrol?English
4·7 months agoLot’s of reasons, the list is quite long, you don’t really have to read that all x) :
*- cars maintenance is annoying
*- parking is annoying
*- on street parking and big parking lots are ugly and make places worse to live in
*-cars are extremely dangerous
*-cars are too loud
*-cars are bad for the environment
*-cars are an inefficient way to get around in most cases
*-there is too much car infrastructure
*-car infrastructure is really expensive, a lot of that tax money would be of better use elsewhere
*-I’d rather support public transport and the implementation of good bicycle and walking infrastructure
*-walking and riding a bike is healthy and can be really pleasant
*-I can read stuff while using public transport (like lemmy posts)
*-driving a car in big cities is scary and stressful
*-trains are cool
*-screw the car industry and their lobbying
*- in the few cases I do want to use a car, I can easily rent one
These are just the reasons from the top of my head, there are probably more.

2·7 months agoGreat point. They definitely should take responsibility. I just want to keep the history of imperialism in mind. I don’t want to excuse the US at all.

6·8 months agoYes, that algorithm is definitely way better! I’d argue though that people aren’t more considered here because they are nerds. Communities, such as the gaming and anime communities, are often one of the most misogynistic ones online. I think people are more considered here, because they are politically on the left.

111·8 months agoI started using Lemmy just recently. I haven’t seen any sexism here so far. On reddit it’s a matter of minutes until something sexist appears on my feed, or other hateful stuff. That’s why I feel way more relaxed using Lemmy.
