Thank you! I’ll try this out. I’ve been mostly using it while playing around with new things rather than to expand scaffolding on existing stuff.

However what I find frustrating is that it so confidently gives you garbage sometimes. I was trying to configure some stuff in docker that needed a very extensive yaml config. It confidently gave me flags and keys to accomplish what I wanted that looked logical and fit in with rest of the style but simply did not exist.

Thank you! That’s been my experience as well. It just gives you insidious junk that you have to be vigilant to catch. That is so much more stressful for me than having to deal with repetitive stuff.

I can’t fathom how people are claiming it generated whole projects for them.

I’ve found it okay to get a general feel for stuff but I’ve been given insidiously bad code. Functions and data structures that look similar enough to real stuff but are deeply wrong or non+existent.

I was hoping that testdisk would show you something funky going on with the partition table based on the parted error. No luck I guess.

My next two ideas are,

1. As far as I know wipefs just tries to wipe what blkid sees and it might have screwed up something. What if we just dd the whole drive with zeros and let your enclosure take it from there?
2. What does smartctl say? Might be worth it to run the long and short tests to make sure that the drives themselves are okay.

Try to not be reactive. Take appropriate action whenever needed but choose to act after a delay so that you aren’t responding impulsively. In my experience 90% of conversations that were problematic could have been avoided if either party chose to walk away or take a break.

Yast. I love zypper and opi but yast is super weird. Like if you want to do things that you can do with yast, you probably know how to do it on terminal.

Nothing is perfect. Every distribution I used have had bugs at some point.

I would usually wait a while before, maybe until the first point release to upgrade so that there is time to iron out all the teething issues.

The actual problem is only encountered when the raspi-firmware package is (re)configured or when the kernel/initramfs is updated.

I found this to be invaluable when I was borking stuff all the time.

My main draw towards Linux is the exact opposite experience. I have a Linux install that has been carried over three computer and two harddisk changes over 10 years and it’s still as good, or slightly better than it used to be.

Most of it is fear mongering but you know bioaccumulation is a thing right? Water is a nice shield against radiation reaching you but if radioactive nucleai are in the water, it’s going to accumulate in animals that grow in that water and cause heavy metal poisoning, like Mercury.

Why not go even further? Just switch off the pesky temperature limits in the bios.

Irrespective of whether the rebuilders are shitty or not, RH is clearly trying to restrict GPL and expecting to get away with it because they can pay more for lawyers. If they believe that other people using their source is making money unfairly, change the licensing. You don’t get to keep GPL so that you get all the benefits, contributions and goodwill from the community for free and at the same time claim that people cannot excercise their GPL rights. They’re free to make everything they build by themselves closed source.
