  • GBA: I really like the remakes of the first Pokémon releases, being Fire Red and Leaf Green. It just makes me wonder why they never went with Green for the international release of the Game Boy version.

PSP: Patapon 2. It’s kind of impressive that they made a rhythm game with an actual storyline, being that you’re a god that is guiding a tribe to “Earthend”, using a set of drums to give them commands. I thought it was the best game in the series, and even has a remaster on the PS4 if you’re interested in that.

Yeah, those are the only consoles I have actually played. It’s not fun being in a country where video games are astronomically expensive.

  • Resol - can mean a number of different things. It’s the first 5 letters of the word “resolution”. It’s also the word “loser” spelled backwards. It’s two notes on a keyboard (D and G in Anglo-Saxon music notation). And it just looks and sounds cool in my opinion.

van - the Dutch word meaning “of” or “from”. Note that I am not referring to actual vans (the German equivalent being “von”, which also appears in a lot of names). Also I prefer spelling that word completely in lowercase.

Lemmy - isn’t it obvious? It’s this wonderful website.

Put them together, and you get “Resol van Lemmy”. It sounds pretty nice, don’t you think? Especially since I really hate my real name.

  • To me, they’re a lot like supporting a YouTube creator you like on a funding website like Ko-Fi (or that other one that starts with a P), you don’t pay to watch their content, you pay because you enjoy their content and want them to get better at it, and you get some freebies in return that never feel necessary for those who can’t afford or don’t want to spend money on them.

It’s also why on Bandcamp, you can choose to pay more than the asking price for a song/album if you really feel like it. You never need to, but you can because you care about the artist’s work.

FOSS can really benefit a lot from voluntary donations, especially since making software (especially good software) and maintaining it costs money. This is especially the case for a website that relies on maintaining servers and instances.

  • I’ve never touched alcohol in my life outside of cleaning purposes (I mean isopropyl alcohol, or as I like to call it, icy prope). And to be honest, you’ve convinced me to remain teetotal.

However, I always have the feeling I wanted to try out some drinks just for that taste but can’t because it’s got some of that الكحول in it. And there are very few non-alcoholic alternatives for these drinks. The only one I’ve tried is a virgin mojito (in my country it’s sometimes referred to as just “mojito” because it’s the only one we know). And honestly, it tastes great. And then there’s the fact that I can’t make my own vanilla extract. You need ethanol for that, and I just have this fear of putting it in my body because I don’t wanna get addicted to it.

I’ve always treated alcohol like drugs and tobacco. They feel fun, and you want more, but it will knock you out when you least expect it.
