I hate this law because its so damn loud. Its so often i find EV’s louder then ICE cars in parking lots and its usually and obnoxious chime sound that travels much further than the little rubble coming from an engine. I wish they’d change this law to something more restrictive so the sounds are not as loud and also less obnoxious so it cannot be heard from more than 30f away. I suggest simple white noise at som low 40 dB or something like that.
Well, I’m one. Fed up with windows BS.
As a Dane i can say that maybe its because Scandinavians are generally pretty tech savvy and good with digitalisation. Also Scandinavians has a low tolerance for bullshit.
She’s not allowed on the kitchen counters, but I haven’t leaned the cat language well enough to giver a stern warning she can understand. And who can say no to such a cute girl sleeping there. I always just gently taker her down but every day she tries her luck once again.
She also keeps an eye on the “drain monster” that is the sound of the water being pumped out by the machine. Maybe one day it’ll show itself and Bella will be ready to catch it.
If you like Ubuntu I can only recommend Debian with KDE desktop (don’t install the default gnome DE).
I just switched recently and it’s a very clean feeling. No snap and no nonsens. Just stable and trustworthy.
In my naive mind the steam deck is a huge motivating factor for developers to go directly to native Linux games. In reality it’s probably given only little a consideration.
How long before the majority of game development is defaulting to Linux/Unix instead of windows? Getting native Linux games to run on windows is only becoming easier and easier with WSL? To me it seems like less of a hastle than trying to go the other way like we do today with proton and wine. Can someone enlighten me?
I had an old laptop do this some years ago and it was because the graphics card was broken. I had dual graphic card and found a way to disable the broken one in bios (dedicated one, could continue on intel graphics) but the computer was too old to reliably use much longer and it died even more a few months later.
I can recommend as well. It is maybe not the most beginner friendly OS since it works quite differently than most other OS’s unless installed in a curtain way. Iirc. The installer is quite helpful in getting it set up correctly.
I’m surprised noone have mentioned Lubuntu yet. It’s a debloated and light weight version of Ubuntu and can run on very old hardware. I’ve used it in the past before on shitty hardware with great success
Dvorak doesn’t really make sense for phones anyway. There’s zero benefits. Maybe even negatively since qwerty spreads out the most common keys it’s easier for autocorrect to guess what you are actually trying to hit. I have no scientific data on it tho. Just a feeling.
Thank you! It’s so much more comfortable to typ on. Not faster, but Comfortable. I hate the awkward and annoying questions from colleges tho: wHY iS yOuR nOt woRkinG NoRmAllY?
And the mess that ctrl-c ctrl-v becomes is also super annoying. Mostly on windows its annoying. Linux is a bit more consistent.
I think my most unusual step os to select dvoark keyboard layout. Otherwise I’m pretty vanilla.
I added Debian to my mom’s new laptop. I cannot rely on windows having a stable desktop environment and interface anymore which is crucial for my mom to be able to use it.
Thanks I’ll check it out
I hate to be a widows advocate but they do keep improving the online version all the time so if you have not tried it in a long while maybe try again to see if some of the issues have been fixed. I feel like it gets better and better every time I (accidentally) open documents in the browser. It’s still crap in general but that’s more of a general word thing.
SolidWorks, fusion360, codesys (plc programming) and many other enterprise grade software sadly only really work on Windows. They do however work okay through a VM but annoying to deal with.
Games now work surprisingly well on Linux so i have no problems there except Sims4 that my girlfriend plays seems to be windows only when bought through origin gamestore
And dont suggest frecad for cad work. Sadly It’s seriously not even close to being competitive.
Debian. Since so many distros are based of it I always thought of it to be a stripped down, minimal and basic distro, but after daily driving for a year now in suprised how feature complete and pleasent it is out of the box with kde DE.
