Technology@lemmy.world•Nintendo sued by players who say they should get any tariff refunds received by the US governmentEnglish
111·1 month agoHere is the thing. If they win, it’s great for them. However, all the other companies are currently updating their legal documents to reflect that they will get any forms of reimbursement and not be passing them on to the consumer. Not only that, but they are not planning on reducing the price of any of the products. So, even if the tariffs dissappear, they still win.
The only way to win the game is to not play it.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why would anyone doordash food from a place that already does delivery?
8·1 month agoI do it to get pizza from my favorite pizza joint. It only delivers within a 5 mile radius and I live 10 miles away.

Technology@lemmy.world•Mozilla accuses Microsoft of sabotaging Firefox with Windows and Copilot tacticsEnglish
617·2 months agoI don’t think Microslop really needs to sabotage Firefox. Firefox is doing a really good job of shooting their own selves in the foot.

49·2 months agoSo, I am a remote worker in Healthcare. Obviously, I need to use a VPN to connect to work to ensure that communication is secure. But because I have a job that requires secure access, I am a suspected domestic terrorist?

Technology@lemmy.world•Scientists uncovered the nutrients bees were missing — Colonies surged 15-foldEnglish
322·2 months agoYep, you can’t charge money in perpetuity if you solve the actual problem. Not only that, but bees will eventually become reliant on the product. This is how the US Healthcare system works as well.

Technology@beehaw.org•US bans any new consumer-grade routers not made in America
16·2 months agoYeah, I think this is less about how secure foreign routers are and more about inserting their own backdoors in citizens hardware for surveillance purposes.
No baby, I’m so sorry, it won’t happen again. I promise!
Too Little and way too late. Microslop is sloppy slop.

2·3 months agoThe only reason I can come up with is because they have oily skin and don’t want to get it on their phone. Even that isn’t an excuse for being a douche canoe.

4·3 months agoI dig the idea of a dating type site for jobs! Unfortunately, it likely won’t pan out in the US where we overwork, overwhelm, and underpay our workers. Not to mention that you can’t trust the company or the potential hires to be open or honest.
That it’s all a cycle.
I have tried on multiple occasions. Unfortunately, it never seems to give me the answers I want. It’s usually more time efficient to figure it out myself. Maybe I am too old, but I don’t think AI is anywhere near ready usefulness.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Help me understand the workflow for cloning dotfiles after a fresh install without hosting dotfiles in the cloud
11·4 months agoSo, I have been wondering how distro hoppers handle setting up the system after an install… Going by this thread, it sounds like it is just a matter of stashing the config files somewhere else and then restoring them afterwards?
What about applications? I assume those need to be reinstalled and configs restored as well, or is it all manual after getting the OS set up?
One last question, does anyone have a link to an article explaining the process?

People are still using Microslop products?
