  • sideline women or box them into tired tropes

Which makes it mind bogglingly insane how many claimed “feminists” support her because of her stance on trans people.

Hermoine and Ron ending up together is shit. He treats her like garbage throughout the series.

Bellatrix is presented as this fucked up “Daddy’s Little Monster” to Voldemorts Joker.

All of the “good” women are passive little teachers and moms.

What happens to Tonks is especially gross as shit. You have a GNC women. Goes by a shorten, masc-ish name. Short hair, colors, dresses ambiguously.

Then she gets married off to the other queer coded character. (Werewolf = HIV, I’m pretty sure she straight up said that at one point.) He calls her her extremely feminine birth name, and iirc the text even mentions that she is vaguely uncomfortable with that? Then gets knocked up and killed off. She gets to die a “proper woman.”

TERFs say “trans men shouldn’t transition! Just be a non confoming woman!” But it’s a fucking front. They are a conservatives in disguise. They don’t want GNC people to exist, just like they don’t want trans people to exist. “Just be non-binary! But also, shave your legs and wear makeup and make sure to present in a feminine way.”

If I was a billionaire feminist who could buy courts, I could think of several better priorities.

  • That number of articles is still pretty impressive. I’d rather have fewer, high quality articles, than millions of terrible quality AI articles.

The great thing about Wikipedia is that anyone can add articles! It also wouldn’t be too difficult to “translate” regular Wikipedia articles to simple ones. You could even use AI tools to help - there are text leveler tools that will help you recognize which words lower level readers would struggle with and can help you make those changes. But this cannot be an automated process.

I’ve done graduate level course work on modifying text for “EMLs” - “emerging multilingual learners.” (“ELL” is still okay, but lots of folks in the field prefer EML because it is prioritizing the students “assets.”) I’ve made several assignments for students with reading difficulties. When I did experiment a bit with AI tools to help me with this process, I had to do a lot of fine tuning to get an acceptable product.

Tbh, you just convinced me right now that I should start adding more articles myself.

  • Pro tip - directly insulting a Trump supporter with that kind of irrelevant remark doesn’t really help.

You want to look for pain points and hypocrisy. Do they have kids? Talk about what happened at Miss Teen America. Are they flipping their lid about Trump protecting ‘merkins from sharia law? Ask them why he supports Al-Sharaa.

Greta, you know, kinda got international news to cover Gaza here? Also got international news to cover our impending climate disaster?

Talk is a form of activism. Just because you don’t get instant results doesn’t mean that it’s pointless.

  • As a trans man, I would be happy to have a child. My uterus still works, as much as I would suffer going off of testosterone enough to carry, it is something I have always wanted.

Unfortunately, these people have made it legal for me to be fired for being trans. They have voted for politicians that have done nothing to address the catastrophic state of medical care which renders it prohibitively expensive to realistically ever be able to care for a child.

I believe that children deserve stable living conditions and a future, which does not seem to be something that they are concerned with at all.

  • Its like how we are in a mass extinction event right now.

Extinction is usually a long and drawn out process. There can be delayed responses to changes in the natural environment that mean that the species is essentially bound to be extinct even thousands of years before it actually goes extinct. Steller’s sea cow is an interesting example. Humans certainly dealt the killing blow, but the species would have been doomed anyway.

This is what is very concerning in our current mass extinction. Ocean acidification is going to wipe out a lot of species. If you make the environment hostile to phytoplankton, you are reducing calories available in the ocean. Certain more harmful algae species might overproliferate in response to the new space to live in. Phytoplankton and different species of sea grass are huge oxygen producers - decreased oxygen production could possibly have long term effects on us.

Ecology is ridiculously complicated, and tugging on one thread in the web of life can cause an entire ecosystem to collapse through a delayed response. Things are rarely instant.
