5 months agoCan’t confirm. When I was young and hanging out in online chat rooms, I regarded the others as real and experienced a full range of emotions toward them. They were my acquaintances, friends, crushes, or enemies. Definitely didn’t see them as NPCs. If I had, I would never have had such strong feelings about any of them.
But that’s just me. Others’ mileage may vary.

Not necessarily. You need to fetch the HTML of the web page you want the icon for and see if there’s a <link rel=icon> or equivalent HTTP header.
And yes, this means different pages on the same site can have different icons.
