I have a fixed work schedule and can’t be like “Eh, I have enough money, I’m just going to work 35 hours this week.” It would be amazing if I could, but I don’t know many people who have that option. It really depends. My company, you always do the high deductible. The OOP Max is only $5k compared to $13k for the other. The difference in premiums plus my employers contribution to the HSA are more than the difference between the two deductibles. The plans cover the same stuff. I think I might be misunderstanding. If he felt he wasn’t smart enough to get anything out of college, isn’t it better that he not go? Like it seems more spoiled to go to college without the expectation you’d get the degree. You’re taking a spot from someone who thinks they’ll graduate, wasting your parents’ money, and delaying becoming a self sufficient adult for no pay off.
