Yeah the Open Source version. I doubt that the hosted version is using that. Cloud providers have super fast DB’s that are basically compatible with the MySQL syntax

My question was ironic, implying that anyone using it in a productive system/software/service is doing a very bad job at software architecture. I avoid any product relying on super slow software pieces.
Well, who is using mysql/mariadb nowadays anyways? If you haven’t made the switch to at least postgres in the past 5 years, you messed up anyways.
Fuck me, that’s awesome. Then Switzerland and the US are clearly doing something wrong. What is the average voter participation in Norway and how often can people vote?
Quick reminder: In Switzerland, we have the ability to vote on everything. We get educated like that from the early childhood on, that voting is important and necessary. Even with that concept, the average voter participation is between 40-50%. So even if you might think a lot of people are not voting - yes, true, but you will never be able to increase it much above 50% IMHO.
Again. There are also exceptions, so not 100% of all code will be published. Licensing is also an issue, as the law only says the owners are advised to use an internationally recognized license if possible, but it is not mandatory. And it is to be expected to be handled differently for each project.
It is not the state. Those are regular professionals.
I partially agree that there should be a possibility to kill yourself in an easy way. But don’t forget that very often, this death wish is the cause of a mental illness, which can be treated.
So with Exit, you need to have been diagnosed by a psychiatrist. So it probably takes some time, and that time has to be obviously paid. After that, a second psychiatrist checks the diagnosis for any errors. And the third actor is going to be a regular doctor, double checking for errors. If all goes well, you get the death cocktail. As things can go wrong with that, you should be accompanied by someone experienced. Exit provides this assistance free of charge, as they use donations and membership fees to pay for that.
I cannot tell you about what diseases are successful. Usually, psychological issues are not enough to get the diagnosis you need. You need to be heavily impacted by it and there has to be no cure.
And this was the other song from Hitachi.
There you go, but it was Linspire already: https://piped.video/watch?v=IIYtKHnU4mQ%3Fsi%3DtW7VM1MY1DFBB2BB&t=4
Wait, didn’t they have a super weird/catchy song about Lindows back then? Or am I confusing it with the Perpendicular song, when HDD manufacturers switched to this technology?
Don’t worry, almost everyone did get the joke and it was funny imho.
TIL … thank you very much for clearing that up, very much appreciated! :)
Oh, as with any Linux, all of them are for everything suitable if you have the time to modify everything. I‘d rather use a Linux which is optimized for gaming, e.g. uses Zen kernel, ProtonPlus, Steam with gamescope and gamemode, HDR enabled by default due to the correct DisplayPort drivers, and many other things.
In terms of frames per second, it is probably only slightly better than an unoptimized OpenSUSE
I always was and will be team SUSE, no matter what. With other distros I had bad experiences at some point. Never with SLES or OpenSUSE. Although, currently I have no OpenSUSE installation, as it is not suitable for gaming.
Maybe you should take a break.
We used it as OS for the tank and airplane simulators, just because it made them cheaper compared to buying 500 Windows licenses
Been using Proton stuff for years. Some things are super annoying and just don‘t work. Their software engineers are mediocre at best. This made me move everything away from Proton a couple of years ago. Funny enough, all the other privacy focused providers annoyed me even more. So after 1-2 years without Proton, I moved everything back :D
Don‘t expect too much and you will be fine. Simple features you know from other services might be missing. Support is meh, but you rarely have to use it.
Only because he had no windows
