1·13 days agoXP and 7 basically ran flawless on all my machines I had them on
So you somehow missed alll the worms and viruses and toolbars and adware and spyware that was going around on windows for a decade?
All the blue screens and driver issues and memory crashes and slowness and bugginess?
I have never seen anyone saying they never had any issues with Windows before, you’re the first in 30 years

2·13 days agoIt’s strange to me because well, I was a 20+ years windows veteran who managed to never have issues on any of my windows installs
You’ve only used Windows 7 onwards? You must have missed the shitshow that was XP and Vista

212·13 days agoThis was cool 5 years ago, now you can get solar panels and a home battery big enough to power this thing 24x7 without an issue, even if the sun was fully blacked out for a week
edit: a 40kwh battery would last with the power draw:
Power usage 2.62W
like over a year

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•The offer to pay more for the same finally pushed me to cancel Apple Music. What is a good alternative that's not loaded with ads?
1·1 month agoWhy post a misleading graphic?
As the article says: No platform pays a flat rate per play. Each service splits a revenue pool by every artist’s share of total streams.
It’s not a flat get X plays earn Y amount, because as the amount of streams you get increases your share of the pool goes up which increases the amount you earn
In addition free loaders (people who have ad supported spotify for example) have a significantly lower pay per play than premium subscribers, and even then a premium subscriber in India for example has a lower pay per play rate than someone in Australia or Canada

1·1 month agoI’ve always said do the best you can to move away from big tech, this person saying:
If there’s a thriving secondhand market, more people can sell them and buy flagships.
If we’re down to worrying about the health of the secondhand market I think we’d be in an amazing place, but we’re not, every little bit helps and I think grabbing a second hand phone and installing graphene on it is a great idea
I’ve also heard they’re teaming up with Motorola:
I call bad atheism “The Cult of the Void”. They believe that, after you die, there is just oblivion. They have no more empirical evidence for this than any other belief system
How about that your entire world is constructed based on your brain and if that goes so does everything else? You can even temporarily change your world with drugs, some people are born with naturally damaged brains, schizophrenics believe people are chasing them even when they’re not for example
It’s a bit like saying if you lose a leg it doesn’t go to another dimension it just dies, same thing with your brain, there is no evidence to suggest the synapses that compose and construct your world suddenly transform into some angel dust and transport you to another dimension
I’ve seen them reduce kids to tears, framing death as a terrifying and brutal thing.
Why would death be scary? You get a free preview every night 😃
