There is a lot more to this way than just the hostage situation - Israel has been in control of Palestinian territory for a long time (they consider it theirs) and they have been fighting with the Hamas organization for years now. This is the single worst escalation of it.
Hamas doesn’t want peace. The status quo is domination of Palestine under Israel government - erasure of Palestine effectively if they laid down arms and disbanded. They want liberty, and payback for hardships.
There isn’t reason to believe Israel will stop the attacks on return of the hostages, as they have gone overwhelmingly above and beyond the total damage done by Hamas (even comparing women and children victims vs. the concert raid that started it all) and given Netanyahu’s far right government is at the helm, so your second point has merit.
I was going to say Russia must love humiliating themselves but I guess this is painfully obvious the past 2 years
Modern Israel is not Judaism! It’s not the same theocracy described in the old testament. It’s not even religiously pure, there’s a sizeable Christian and Muslim population. It’s perfectly valid to respect Jews and and their beliefs, and to criticize Netanyahu’s government for attempting to crush Palestine and kill its civilians indiscriminately in raids. Jewish folks in the US and abroad are joining in the protests to stop the war - this isn’t about being antisemitic, this is telling a very atrocious government to stop behaving as a similarly atrocious government did 80 years ago
I could see something like this being a common use icon, it’s very well done. I prefer this look to having the big bodied Tux on a small icon, this solves the problem well. Good job!
For me, I had a netbook in 2008 and Windows 7 starter was a paywalled and slow mess, and Ubuntu 8.10 ran like a dream AND ran Windows apps! And looked cooler and the terminal was pretty awesome to use.
It’s still that way, Windows 11 runs like shit and only lets you customize so much and makes decisions on when you update and what services you can have running and numerous other minor complaints, meanwhile Linux is free, fast, works well and doesn’t get in your way.
Maybe a good thing in a weird way, at least in testing? Helps you plan for the unexpected
