  • RE9 is probably on the lower end for me. Was excited and paid full price and didn’t even get more than an hour into a second run before I got bored. The game is good but a depressing amount of it is basically on rails, kind of like the Beneviento house in RE8.

For 70 fucking bucks, it needs to ship with a mercenaries mode or seriously different NG+ mode. Insanity stops being interesting as soon as you get the blood collector and start making OP backstab injectors again and ironically showcases how actually rather unobservant most enemies are.

Compare that to games like Abiotic Factor, which are half the price (and I paid less than that because I got it during its 0.9 early access patch) and I’ve clocked hundreds of hours in or games like WoW or FFXIV which have clocked several thousand hours each.

  • Not really end of an era, you’re just witnessing a monopoly forming since Xbox is pretty much dead in the water. I guess it’s technically a duopoly since Nintendo is fine, but Nintendo kinda does its own thing without regard to what others do. Basically, with Xbox out of the picture, Sony is free to do whatever it wants.

  • I really like the burrow move. Dodge rolls tend to be extremely OP in anything souls inspired. Players don’t really need to properly understand the enemies because they get a pretty healthy amount of iframes with minimal startup and sometimes even no cost at all. It’s definitely something that needs adjusting to and you’ll get your shit slapped a lot if you’re used to souls style dodging. There are trinkets that make your mercy invincibility and stuff better but I’m honestly not a huge fan of how they do trinkets. Too many of them have a “why isn’t this just default?” feel to em.
