There is simply too much going on in The Silmarillion to cover it in a single movie or even a trilogy.

It always felt a lot epic than LOTR IMO, even it is a flawed piece.

Both resources support English search, have well seeded netflix content and English audio tracks are always provided for English language content (just set your player to default to english). Rutracker especially has lots of niche/older content you simply won’t find on streaming platforms. Mazepa has a lot less content (in context of niche/older productions), but its also less on the radar and netflix content is generally well covered.

I don’t know about North America, but in Europe you should be able to use both services via torrent streaming for most netflix content. Might even work in North America.

You’ll need to register on both, but it’s not difficult with a webpage translator. There is a solid number of english language users on rutracker.

Lot’s of other options as well if you don’t want to deal with foreign language; Usenet which requires a fee, private torrent sites (can be a pain to get into and maintain ratio though).

I just realized he was in Xena (and Hercules?), I associate him with post late 2000s productions for some reason.

The Fox and the Hound, most of the movie is relatively typical Disney fare, but the ending had its “PG” moments.

All Dogs go to Heaven, this production felt different compared to other animated movies when I watched it as a kid.

I watched it a few years after release with zero expectations, just a general recommendation by a family member and I thought it was it was a great experience. Although I can sort of agree with the more style than substance arguement.

This is really good and pretty original movie.

Angel’s Egg is a crazy experience, I find it helps to get in a certain state of mind when re-watching it.

While I generally dislike most anime, productions like Angels’s Egg, Perfect Blue, Metropolis or Megazone 23 are IMO a whole step up compared to many live action movies that go for a similar feel.

Kind of crazy to think Starship Troopers was released almost 30 years ago, when Muldoon was 29.

For more niche content, it’s sometimes one of the few viable sources for reviews.

Middle East Eye is comically inconsistent and downright hypocritical in their perspective/messaging on issues outside of Palestine/Israel.

I’m not going to argue that Highlander is a cinematic masterpiece. The critical response was mixed to harsh, and the film wasn’t a box office success either, grossing just $13 million against its $19 million production budget.

I never knew it was box office failure when it was released.

When the author listed the adjacent media, she forgot to include Highlander: The Search for Vengeance; the 2007 anime based on the Highlander.

While I have pretty solid exposure to anime, I actually don’t like the vast majority of anime. This is one of those anime experience that I would argue has crossover appeal. The art style isn’t annoying, the characters and writing are relatively well done. It’s actually a solid entry in the Highlander franchise.

I always get really happy nostalgia vibes when I watch Small Soldiers.

It’s not particularly good, but it gives me the feelz.

Supernova could have a been a lot better, wasted opportunity IMO.

I thought it was pretty good. Watched it in the cinema, I didn’t regret it.

I don’t think it was the best movie of 2025, but it was entertaining and relatively well made and somewhat original.
