I work at Microsoft and it’s well known that you get paid way more at Facebook and Amazon. We like to call it a “sin tax”. Their employee retention is basically how long you need to stay to get your whole signing bonus.
Microsoft is far from perfect but I thoroughly enjoy working there in gaming.
My guess is humanity will, but society probably won’t, at least not in or near it’s current form.
It’s also not black and white.
Some is better than none. Find a sweet spot for you.

Could be using experimental APIs Chrome has, there are plenty of them.
This is the issue with one giant browser. They can make the “spec” what ever they want without any consideration of other browsers.
Medical privacy is a great example.
Consider a situation like Texas right now where abortion went from a normal, legal thing to something that you can be fined and jailed for.
Would such a person be OK with the state having access to their medical records so they could jail or fine them?
People need to understand that much of privacy precautions are “layers” of security against “what if” scenarios that can sometimes be very real.
If you believe their privacy policy, nothing.
