  • Not defending Israel, just this was about Hamas and the mayor saying he does not support them. I give you my reasoning why I agree with his view. I like how you attack me, the messenger, as if you know anything about me. But this isn’t about me, probably my mistake to try and find comparisons from my own life, but I know better now.

I really do hope the Palestinian people get to have peace and prosper, really hope they can have like what we in SA did and live in harmony together. Thank fuck we had Mandela and de Klerk that was able to negotiate peace and lead us to a constitutional democracy.

But I will not support Hamas personally, nor Netenyau’s government, hopefully both sides(Palestine and Israel) can get leaders such as ours that can work together. I really hope for everyone there they find a way to live together.

Otherwise this is my last comment on this thread, not gonna waste more of my time, I do not want to change your opinion nor would I want you to change your opinion, we both can have our own valid opinions. So cheers and my not a drop of blood be further spilled on either side

  • Glad we could justify the killing of a “baby” because America has killed more, at least 20. Nazi’s also killed a couple of Jewish babies, what is just one more, it’s not like Hamas target this specific baby, kidnapped the baby, refused to hand it back if it was really an error, not keep the baby as a hostage until the baby finally died of “natural death”.

People it was a single baby, please support Hamas because not supporting them, even if the justifiably killed one baby (and not 20 if it was the USA), is basically not supporting Palestine and its people whom these acts of Hamas, like killing one tiny baby, are done in the Palestinian people’s name.

  • One of the very few businesses excluded from the municipal licence exemption.

Cannot start a watering hole without the municipality’s blessings (some money needs to grease the wheels).

But basically led to a lot of underground drinking spots. They were a godsend during COVID lockdowns, any sale of alcohol was prohibited, there was some guy that was killed by the military when they found him drinking a beer in his own yard (which technically was legal).

But yeah some stupid alcohol rules here in SA, not all for example drinking and driving, but most

  • Unfortunately shifting blame to reporting is not correct. In a democracy the people have a duty to inform themselves, unfortunately people choose to rather inform themselves with, how you put it “feeds”. They think because they are hearing the same thing over and over, due to being in an echo chamber, they are informed, nope you just reinforced your biases. But the people have sold their duty to these influencers to do their informing for them in an easily digestible manner that makes them feel safe and reinforced their beliefs.

And also know this is off topic, I am a big believer in libertarianism, in a classical sense, not the US way. And I am curious to see how Milei does, and I also open myself up that I could be wrong with his libertarian ways, I believe the proof is unfortunately in the pudding at the end of the day, did it achieve success or not. Disappointed in the scandals so far but I hope Argentina one day achieves the success it truly deserves, maybe this way or maybe another economic model.

But I find Argentina interesting as a case study for my beliefs, like I said will change if I see Argentina fails.

  • I think aid from the US was the last thing on their mind. Never have I ever voted for a party because what US, EU, China or any other foreign power threatened.

These midterm elections are usually an indication of how the general population feels the current administration is doing, think of the blue wave during Trump’s first midterm.

Is there any indication that wide spread voter suppression or fraud was happening, not just anecdotal but like verifiable like what happened in Venezuela last year. If not I would say whether you like it or not, that is the crux of democracy, the masses have decided

  • I think you are reading way too much into it, I was mocked for never kissing kissing someone when I was that age. Kids can be cruel, and I think this episode is just surface level deep. The target audience is young teens - children. I do not expect neon genesis evangelion depth in the writing. But maybe you could be right, but usually the hints are way more subtle, like Peter Parker’s jizzed hands in the first Spiderman movie when he wakes up (big puberty analogy). But, for me, the iCarly episode would make it very disturbing if a Nickelodeon show wanted to make subliminal messaging about sex

  • In South Africa, it is illegal to open carry, unless you are a police officer or security guard. So citizens are required to conceal carry. Yet in the rural areas where I am from, most of the firearm carrying people prefer to open carry, they feel it is a deterrent and easier to reach.

It’s really weird how everyone in America, what I assume we are referring to, wants to conceal carry because the government does not want you to, and here in SA we want to do the opposite because of what the government wants.

PS this is my opinion from personal experience, maybe a lot more are carrying but I do not see them.

  • Yeah in South Africa when our then President, Jacob Zuma, disbanded our independent corruption body, the Scorpions, that started basically corruption on such a scale, even had a commission of inquiry for state capture. Just look at South Africa’s growth since then, basically entrenched poverty and joblessness to our countrymen.

Be afraid Ukraine, even if Zelensky has good intentions, what about the next president. All the advice I can give you is to become active, continue putting pressure on your elected officials. The people have the power, especially through the ballot

  • Vices are a natural part of being human. But vices can easily become difficult to manage in a healthy manner. But it sounds like you are lonely and your religion and the service from adult workers is trying to fill the void. I get it, life is hard and tough and very lonely.

Why not try to take it easy on yourself. We are all fallible, but we should strive to better ourselves, look it seems that is exactly what you are trying and wanting. This might seem stupid but I started jogging last year. I fucking sucked, but someone told me try moving half an hour a day 2-3 times a week and in a year you would have succeeded in something to further build upon. So I jogged a block and basically died, but almost a year later it changed my life, I joined a jogging group at work, made new friends and running partners, and comradeship. I am not a jogger, still doing a 5km at 57 minutes yesterday, a parkrun with friends. But my point is not to start jogging, but maybe find a hobby or activity that allows you to interact with people, no matter how stupid, and if it is something to be active then there may be a double benefit.

This will not solve your issues or vices, but I learned little by little it becomes a lot, and maybe working on yourself physically or socially, even if you are a fish out of water, will yield results in different ways. It sounds like you are working on yourself spiritually, I hope since you started you have seen a difference. But changing yourself will require work, that is what makes it so satisfactory because you worked for this change, but there isn’t a quick fix or and shortcut, but the answer is easy, small efforts everyday, results in big hard worked changes after a while.

Good luck on your journey, I hope you are able to deal with your vices and issues in a healthy but productive way.
