I still like my eyes. Blue with a hint of yellow/brown around the center (hazel). It’s almost like an eclipse. It’s the part of my body that gets the second-most amount of compliments.

I bounce back and forth, depending on my mood (obviously) and whether or not I have any sort of creative projects to work on or anything that’s keeping me mentally busy (whether it’s a game, a series, a book, a design, research, just something that I feel interested in or passionate about). If I have nothing that’s really driving me, that’s when I feel at my lowest or I’m just mindlessly consuming crap and the days all just sort of blend together, I’m just going through the motions and the world feels dead, or I feel dead, whichever. When I’m in the midst of a creative project though, I get laser focused on that and forget all about everything else and I have purpose. Sometimes though, I’m just meh, like not really driven, but not really depressed.

The Internet that I grew up with though is definitely gone, alot of it feels shallow now, like I don’t go on tangents upon tangents anymore and it doesn’t have the same sense of exploration that it used to. Like I used to find a random page, which had links to other random pages, which had links to other pages, and I would just follow this breadcrumb trail from one place to another. Now you’ve got shitty social media aggregating links and it just doesn’t feel the same. The closest I’ll get to that is going through Wikipedia if I happen to be researching or looking something up, occasionally you just find other topics that get really interesting. The history of Wargames is the latest thing that’s been holding my interest.

That’s just what the machines want you to believe.

How much easier it’s gotten and most of what you download nowadays is usually exactly what you’re looking for. In the 90’s/00’s, alot of what was pirated had the potential to just be total BS or mislabeled, so you were never entirely certain what it was you were getting. I think Madonna had even gotten into it and released a one of her own albums as a fake download with her telling the listener “What the fuck are you doing?” At the time I mostly got music, though the Dreamcast pirating scene was pretty big for me for awhile. I think anymore though I’m probably more interested in obscure RPG books now.

I think with torrenting, there’s a certain amount of trust that’s inherent with some torrents by virtue of the number of downloads/seeders there are on a torrent. At least for me, I can assume, ok, there’s 100 people seeding this thing, chances are this is exactly what it says it is, otherwise this many people wouldn’t be still seeding it (you can fool some people some of the time, or something like that). I don’t pirate nearly as often as I did when I was younger, but now I feel the need to use protection (via a VPN) because you just don’t know who might be watching. In my entire time having pirated stuff over multiple decades, I had only ever gotten a single letter from my ISP, so it’s not something that I ever felt particularly afraid of, but you never know and it’s better to be safe about that stuff.

I like to treat every standard like a limbo bar and see how much lower I can go.

I had no idea. I just combined it with Lost Mine of Phandelver, since they both take place in the same area, worked relatively well, though I didn’t realize it could’ve been continued with other modules.

I got banned from r/entertainment because I said I thought Lizzo’s outfit she wore at her DC/crystal flute appearance was ugly. Nothing about her or about Madison’s crystal flute or any of that, just that I thought her outfit was ugly.

I took an active shooter training class at our sheriff’s dept some years ago. At the end they had a Q&A period, and nearly all the questions were coming from obvious gun owners who just wanted one of the deputies there to give them the ok to shoot during an active shooter event, just some sort of official recognition that they were in the clear to do it. The deputies weren’t having any of it and the farthest they would go was, “You do whatever you feel is necessary to stay safe and protect yourself.” I’m assuming they couldn’t endorse vigilantism or for citizens to be bringing guns into active shooter situations, since even the firearm accuracy of cops is supposedly only ~30%. The people in the crowd kept coming up with ever more wild scenarios, just trying to get somebody to tell them it was ok. “You’re telling me, that if there was an active shooter that had your wife and kids hostage, and I’m standing there with a gun, you wouldn’t tell me it was ok to take the shot?” was one question I remember a guy asking. It was like, they’re obviously not going to tell you what you want to hear, can we move the fuck on?

The only things I don’t like about pooping at work is when there’s no private restrooms or when they don’t have some sort of white noise in the bathrooms (in the case of public restrooms). Inevitably, there’s people who don’t care about shitting in the stall next to mine, which I absolutely hate, I don’t want to hear you shit. I only want to shit when nobody else is around or when the sound of a fan or something blocks out the noise. It’s like some sort of instinctual feeling. Otherwise, pooping at work is great.

Overall maybe only like 5–10%. Known numbers always, unknown numbers get iffy when I might be expecting a call from somewhere but don’t have their number saved.

We’re going to have to get used to regions of the world becoming permanently uninhabitable.

Office supplies or gaming stuff

I could see something like that being done with music, I’ve never heard of it being done, but I could see it happen. Songs are usually just quick enough that I could see people listen to a song that evolves over time as the musician tries to get it “just right”. Usually though, people form a preliminary opinion about which tracks they like on an album and if it’s not good the first time, they’re not as likely to re-listen to a track (even if it got updated every few weeks/months). There’s a documentary on The Rolling Stones on how they came up with Sympathy for the Devil that shows how that song develops in the studio over time and it’s really interesting to watch it unfold, knowing what it will eventually turn into, but I can’t imagine doing that for a song that may or may not actually go anywhere.

With movies though, they probably have one shot to get it right, after that, most people aren’t going to sit through another showing of a movie to see what changes they make to it (changes they may not even notice). Games are so goddamn complex though that I can’t imagine any game getting released and not having to get patched at some point in its life-cycle. Plus, alot of games are meant to be played over and over again over the course of days/weeks/months, so it wouldn’t be a big ask to have people download an update for a game, especially if they’re fixing a bunch of shit that is annoying players.

And I’m sure whoever put it there faced way more harsher penalties than a certain someone who willfully hid highly classified documents in his bathroom for months and lied about it to investigators.

It’s so dumb, like of all the challenges facing us as a species now, THAT’S the shit that people are getting worked up about? Life on Earth for humanity is in the process of going through a set of major environmental changes that we’re probably not ready for and is going to have catastrophic results for some… and there’s people out there getting bent out of shape about pronouns and sexual orientation. We need to be doing alot more preparing for what’s coming over the next few years and a lot less bitching about things that don’t personally affect us. It seemed like we had made some big strides for awhile there, and that seemingly got erased within the past 8 years.

I don’t actually like validation, recognition, or getting compliments, but I somehow feel slighted when I don’t get them and think I should’ve.
