Finding Nemo two
I think this would be a big enough deal that even they couldn’t stop everyone from trying to use it.
In this same spot.
After a little testing, on Tusky I can see those hashtags as links, but it opens them in a browser instead of within the app, like hashtags normally open. I also cannot find the post through searching the hashtag.
So ultimately it doesn’t work.
If you open this post from Mastodon, are the hashtags active there?
Truly ahead of its time.
The ELI5 thread yesterday where someone was asking about what was happening looked very similar to this. Nearly everyone in that thread was saying the reddit app was great and people woild be back after the protest. The upvotes just seemed fake to me, is all. One upvoted comment even said the apollo dev was lying, which confused me. Was that spez? Who knows.

One option is to get a mastodon client/account and follow a user’s Lemmy address. A funny interaction of being in the fediverse :)
It really seems like they are tying to tackle two issues at once here (LLM training on reddit data, revenue from 3rd party apps) and they aren’t doing a great job at communicating why they are making the API changes. It doesn’t help that the company has a history of making empty promises, so nobody trusts a word they say.
I like summary bots, summoned bots that serve a purpose, and meme bots if they stay in specific communities where they are expected to be. All bots should self identify.
I could be mistaken but doesn’t Lemmy just have a setting for the user to not see bot posts?
I also figure users can block specific bots if they don’t like them.
