Didn’t slack just revamp their entire UI? And also what’s functionally wrong with it? I haven’t had any issues with slack

Ads are the main reason for all the junk though.
Ubuntu resets my default audio every time I put it to sleep. I have no idea why, other distros didn’t do this. Sometimes it fails to detect the speakers on my laptop completely.
I’ve found Ubuntu to need a lot less effort than other distros so I’m not planning to ditch it yet, but even Ubuntu still has weird quirks like this.
Also, some apps fail to open in x11 for some reason so I have to switch to a Wayland session every now and then. And then switch back to x11 because other apps won’t open in Wayland.
Linux always has some weird usability issue no matter how many distros I’ve tried. It’s getting a lot better but it’s not there yet.
Slowroll is experimental and it’s still a rolling release that tracks tumbleweed. It might be less maintenance, but not necessarily more stable in terms of bugs. I’ve seen some people report pretty major issues with it in the last couple months.
Leap is the version you want if stability is your priority. You can even get the tumbleweed nvidia driver if you have an Nvidia card and want the latest driver. The only os I’ve used that was more stable than leap was debian. But Leap is much more flexible than Debian.
Jesus Christ as an American this makes me want to vomit. The libs defending this shit are fucking unreal.
Forcibly deporting people is genocide
They fucking killed cops and broke into Congress to stop electoral vote count while Trump egged them on. Fuck off with your lying bullshit, traitor.
It’s over for beehaw already. Once they decided to ban everyone from the largest lemmy instance, it was over. They aren’t important to the fediverse, period, and never will be with their current leadership who have no idea what they actually want it to be, apart from their personal internet fiefdom.
The short amount of time I was there, it felt like a community built for the moderators and admins, not the users themselves. Frankly the fediverse is better off without them, so I hope they do leave.
You’re just making stuff up. Commercial property values are dropping for a reason which is exactly why big corps are trying to reverse the trend of remote work. No will buy these buildings if everyone works remotely.
More importantly than that, these corps are getting a lot of pressure from local governments to bring people back because our stupid ass zoning laws in the US mean a lot of these areas are vacant, which is bad for the businesses around them.
People worked 12 hour shifts 6 days a week back then with no minimum wage. A lot of people lived in company towns and didn’t even get paid in real money. Child labor was legal and widespread, although some shit hole states are getting back to that.
Things are bad now but anyone who thinks it’s as bad as it was in the gilded age is either delusional or extremely ignorant. There’s a reason the progressive era happened, people were pushed beyond their limits and propaganda couldn’t make up for that anymore.
A Debian blend like SpiralLinux might be better for less technical people. Debian is one of my favorite distros but it’s pretty bare bones and requires some configuration to become an everday usage desktop.
Never had an issue with Debian upgrades
That’s exactly what they are. Royalty made up the idea of divine right and then let the church in on the deal to provide legitimacy to it.
People absolutely saw Iraq as retaliation for 9/11 too. The bush admin repeatedly lied about Iraq having ties to Al Qaeda.
Tooltips don’t help mobile users.
Who is doing so much better though? It seems like most countries have similar issues and it’s not really a West vs East thing. Costa Rica seems like one of the nicer places to live in the world right now, but it’s a “Western” country and it’s also tiny.
I look at Eastern countries like Korea and Japan and see a ton of problems with workers being abused and authoritarian legal systems. Better than the US in some ways but worse in others. I would rather live in the US despite the worse healthcare cause I don’t want to work 12 hours a day.
Don’t bother. The regulars on this sub are totally out of touch with reality and normal people.
What’s the cube?
