Those all work the same, though clearly one is more cursed than the others. They have those for a bunch of other sites as well, for example if you want to search YouTube specifically/directly you can use !yt but I can’t kick the habit of just going to those sites first and then searching directly on there.

“Still worth billions tho” is one of the dumbest things I’ve heard on this platform and that’s saying a lot.

I use the DDG App. It closes all my tabs automatically, I’m the type of person to have hundreds or thousands of tabs open and don’t need that on my phone.

Plus it’s like incognito mode by default, saving cookies on only the sites I explicitly tell it to

I’m sure I can configure Firefox in a similar way but DDG just feels good to me.

We have a dog at the office that just wouldn’t stop crying whenever his owner was gone. After a few months we discovered it was just FOMO. Once we closed the door to that office he was super chill and usually just slept on the couch.

Are they still a victim if they’ve been yelled at for close to a decade that these kinds of things are the standard for Facebook/Meta? I’ve tried telling friends and family so damn often but they just don’t care.

It’s like giving someone you pass on the street your ID, walking away and thinking “man, I can’t believe that guy has my ID”. I’m with you if they really don’t know, I’m sure many don’t. But so many know fully well and just don’t care.

If you ask me both are to blame. Meta is only in a position where they get away with this stuff because people are practically encouraging it.

It’s not competition if everyone has exclusivity contracts on all the content. Take Spotify vs Netflix for example. Spotify will have mostly the same base content as Apple Music, Deezer, what have you. With Netflix… You don’t get any Disney movies, no game of thrones, you have to buy all of the services to get access to even just the content you want.

I’ve never felt I was missing out on anything with Spotify, as I likely wouldn’t with YouTube music either. Maybe some have less but it’s at least a very comparable catalogue across the board.

As long as you’re not forceful about it and can take a hint, everyone could use a couple extra hugs in life in my experience.
