I know. The ones who would do it in response to hardware shortages are mostly already doing it anyway. The ones who don’t, won’t.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How can we protect kids from the harms of social media without sacrificing everyone's privacy?
4·2 个月前We do actually restrict many of those. And that’s not really an issue, because you either buy those in a physical store that has to check your ID in person if there’s any doubt that it’s legal to sell it to you, or you buy it on an online platform that already has all the info for payment processing. Can’t run hyperviolent content on daytime TV (in my country, anyway) etc.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Really tall people see others differently. For example, they see more of others' heads and less of others' bodies. They also see more of the background.
2·2 个月前When in doubt (and if possible), keep your distance. You don’t have to slouch as much and I don’t have to look up as much.
Can’t see either of these happening in the near future, TBH. They just failed to make cloud gaming happen after pouring tons of resources into it, but I also just can’t believe that companies that make severely unoptimized games are going to change their ways.
That said, most gaming is already on phones, and many of the popular multiplayer games are already running fine on very weak hardware.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How can we protect kids from the harms of social media without sacrificing everyone's privacy?
2·2 个月前Make parental control filters mandatory. i.e. if your kid is caught on social media, parents get a fine (proportional to their income and wealth, of course). Worked for seatbelts.
Also, make social media less addictive in general. Sure it’s dangerous for children, but it’s also dangerous for adults, and are those actually well-informed about how purposefully addictive social media is? Facebook etc. make their products as addictive as possible, and on top of that they’re also quite selective about which political propaganda is being pushed. And why the fuck is twitter/X still legally available in every European country? They’re literally pushing child porn.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the superior way to prepare chicken eggs for eating with the mouth?
2·2 个月前Soft-boiled. Fried egg (fried both sides) if you’re in a hurry.
Cake and waffles also make a good case, though.
From what I know about simulator games, they don’t usually simulate asshole customers, and it’s fairly easy to be successful compared to real life. Kinda its own form of stress relief, though I’d assume that the target audience isn’t people who have the simulated job in real life.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there a way to "self-post" on Lemmy like there is on Reddit?
61·2 个月前IDK where you’d do it in English, but there’s !einfachposten@feddit.org, which is in the tradition of r/just_post.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you think life will be like in the future?
34·2 个月前The way things are going right now? Cyberpunk dystopia, but with fewer neon lights.
IME, that was entirely socially accepted in the early 00s. So it’s less “why are they doing it”, and more “why did they keep it up when society at large has moved on”.
Second-to-last line sounds like she introduces her boyfriend to anon. But anon seems happy about that, so good for them!

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Given the obviously wide reaching implications of the Epstein files why arent other world governments demanding access or copies?
24·2 个月前Assuming they don’t already have copies through intelligence sharing agreements and have not already demanded access in secret, how exactly would most countries pressure the US, and specifically this US goverment?

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Do you reckon more blowjobs are given by straight women, or gay men?
1·2 个月前I’d assume that there’s a lot of theoretically homosexual men who are in denial or very deeply closeted. I doubt these men have a large amount of man-on-man sex.

Programming@programming.dev•I tried AI, was impressed by it, and it's embarrassing; Need advice
9·2 个月前If Cursor doesn’t help with that, but you constantly have several devs on “putting out fire”-duty, you have a pretty strong case for taking the time to make the software not be constantly on fire. i.e. it’s probably going to save you time (man-hours) to write some proper code, and time is money.
Not that I expect your superiors to care about that.

Programming@programming.dev•I tried AI, was impressed by it, and it's embarrassing; Need advice
131·2 个月前Do your customers ever complain about your software? If so, what does your team do when it happens? Is this what “something is always on fire” refers to?

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Do you reckon more blowjobs are given by straight women, or gay men?
2·2 个月前Only now did I remember that we have statistics about a lot of things. Straight women give oral sex an average of 5.14 times per month. Gay men are 5.3x per month
Only time in this thread that anyone even tried to bring blowjob statistics to the table instead of just assuming! Would love to see that statistic. Was it for every straight/gay person, regardless of relationship status? Only in relationships? If it’s the latter, that could skew the numbers quite a bit considering gay male hookup culture.

Youngest boomers are 61, though :D
