Devs care to debug code only if they believe in its quality. Otherwise they write the code again from scratch. This is also cheaper than debugging.

AI code is not clever. It’s all developers averaged. Even if it worked properly, you’d get average quality code.
It’s rather lazy and cheap. This is where the quality is lacking.
Ich mache mir die Mühe. Danke für den Hinweis.
I have no problem with parties and companies influencing me. I have a problem with parties and companies that openly violate the constitution.
Because in most countries including Germany social networks filter these kinds of posts and try to fight against misinformation, racism, etc.
Tiktok can be used as a weapon. It can stir up communities and manipulate views. My impression is that it is done on purpose and it’s been instructed by the Chinese government.
I don’t have a proof but in American politics you can see tendencies against Tiktok. They are aware of these subtle issues.
Many first timers on Tiktok report that the first thing they see is this nazi crap right after registration. This is not normal.
Also, lots of nasty bugs are in systems, because of bloat. They are getting fixed slowly, but who doesn’t know cases where you cannot shut down the machine, because of “bouncing stars”.
I still need to look up how to write an own startup script or start two same daemons listening on different IPs. This is why I avoid systemd on servers and only leave it on workstations.
I wish that someone sues when something breaks in the car that you didn’t opt in for.
And… yet better, they get sued when something breaks that is in connection with a paid service and someone suspects that it’s because they paid part caused it.
I’ve turned off autocorrect long time ago. Suggestions are fine. The one click more when I’m wrong is worth my time and I’m automatically educated to type correctly.
To disperse the army from the northeastern fronts. Russia is now forced to defend the entire border and cannot focus their attacks on their previous objectives.
This is a good move.
How about when the ad blockers insert a joke, when a blank screen is shown on YouTube?
Linux admins know that you’re worsening security when installing 3rd party stuff into kernel, so most of them tend to avoid it. And that’s why no one noticed that Crowdstrike problem.
Isn’t one of them a biological bomb? It can poison the ground and kill people.
The idea of “security software” is ridiculous overall. You buy a software to fix security problems in Windows and it violates the original product by inserting code into kernel code. You lose support by the original product vendor. And you think you’re secure, even the whole stuff makes you forget that IT should be always fit in solving security/restorability problems even when everything else fails.
There won’t be such case is my argument. No one patches a system “for fun” and automatically there except they really set it up like that. It would be only one kind of a case in one company.
Furthermore, you cannot compare Linux systems. A modem firmware with busybox is not the same as a Debian PC desktop. It works differently and has only the kernel in common. And in both cases they aren’t patched at the same time. They are not even the same version, hell not even the same platform.
E.a. nothing will ever break like this. If it does, it will be one single case of a single IT department.
No. They don’t. They always need Microsoft support to solve situations and upgrades. You can also ask simple questions that they cannot answer. Try Active Directory: how to run AD in a secure fashion? Or: What services do rely on DCs in our company?
Probably not. Most Linux admins know their systems and are able to navigate out of the situation with ease. But also most people don’t use any corporate off-the-shelf software, because there are better options that are freely available.
Furthermore a Linux installation is dedicated and slim for one single purpose. The flexibility creates diversity.
Basically what I said to people who asked me about my opinion on AI.
Exactly it was: “AI is a tool like a hammer. If you hit your finger, don’t complain about the tool, but because you simply used it wrong.”
Me too. I use myname+theirname@domain.tld for almost everything. Not only I can have many mynames, I also can have very many theirnames.
I don’t like the term “clever” in code, because sometimes it means “I’m too dumb to understand it”. Simply don’t touch clever code, unless you really understand it.
Best example is the fast inverse square root function in Quake. Yeah… it’s clever, but replace it by simple maths and let Quake have performance problems.
On the other hand, using AI for more than assisted coding is never clever. Some day some fuck will use it in medicine and will actually kill people. AI is not at fault here! It’s the programmer who killed a patient in this case by being irresponsible and lazy.
