I’m working on a native iOS app called Olympus too(‘: it’s built with all the new SDKs Apple gave us for iOS 17 (meaning only those on the iOS 17 beta will be able to use it). I should have a TestFlight link up by Monday, doing some final smoke testing this weekend before I let all you users try and break it
To your second point: already done. As for the first one, I can definitely add that as an option but one of my favorite features from Apollo was that it told you when there were new comments since the last time you opened the post. What if it hid the post unless there were new comments in the thread? Maybe have that as an option as well. I’m really going for extreme levels of customization & I love the idea
These are awesome requests, I’ll be sure to reach out to you when the app is ready for testing. If you or anyone else have requests when it comes to mod tools specifically please reach out to me. I’ve never been a mod on here or Reddit so I’m not sure what types of tools mods need, but there are definitely APIs for that and I’d love to take advantage of them.
It does this already. When there are multiple posts with the same link they are grouped together and you can choose which one to enter when you navigate to the comments. Still experimenting with it
It’s a good idea. The problem is the “hitboxes” if you will are very small there. I’ll see if I can come up with a good way to do this
I’m taking a lot of inspiration. If my app is as stable and feature-rich as Apollo I will feel very accomplished. After all these years browsing with Apollo the current options for Lemmy just feel lackluster.
Working title is Olympus. I already bought the domain so hopefully nothing better comes. The long term goal is to support multiple platforms like kbin & mastodon and possibly (optionally) Reddit
It’s not really a hamburger menu that’s just the icon I chose to use. it works the same way Apollo does.
Already in the plans! 😁
Final public iOS 17 release will be in September with public betas starting next month. I didn’t want to architect a new app on top of technology that will be stale & require rework in 3 months. I wouldn’t expect the app to be ready for full blown public release too soon before then anyway. I’ve only been working on it for a week. Still have a lot of work before it’s stable enough for a release.
This is still very much a work in progress. I’ll be looking for beta testers soon so keep an eye out if your on the iOS 17 beta
Agreed. Spent a few weeks in a fog before I finally did this. It all starts blending together after a while, especially if you live in an apartment.
I didn’t see any mention of how they actually get the power down to earth. Really long cable maybe?
Mlem is kind of ass. I’m working on an iOS app now for Lemmy and others. All of your posts and communities across all of your services and servers in one feed. I’m really excited about it.
Inspired by Apollo

Pass lol
Caught myself googling “something something Reddit” today and realized this is gonna be harder than I thought. Really liking it here though and hopefully this gets the user base up to a point I can start googling “something something beehaw”
https://testflight.apple.com/join/o9m6BbyU Definitely nowhere near complete but I think it’s good enough for an Alpha (:
