8·17 days agoAt the time of the film’s release, it offered a new theory about what could happen to Earth’s climate in the future. Sure many scientist just laughed to this scenario. The funny thing is that AMOC research started in the same year. All we have is data from 2004 to the present, of course that is not enough to draw conclusions about our future climate.
Earth’s climate is complex, studying AMOC alone is not enough. And one of the biggest problem is that there are other MOCs, not just AMOC, any changes to AMOC will impact other MOCs. And there is a new research called the SAMOC Initiative started 5 yr ago.

5·3 months agoI heard a similar story from a friend of mine, that the c-levels at his office only wanted to achieve faster development rather than proper development. And he was worried because the system built by the devs team had become bigger and complex, and he didn’t know how to track down bugs in the source code.

World News@lemmy.world•Iranians use Turkey border to access internet during blackoutsEnglish
1·4 months agoyeah it’s not easy, but doable. It takes a lot of effort if you have an authoritarian government., and the Iranian government is a very bad example. Probably they should be more serious, reorganize and develop strategies to fight the government, because demonstrations are ineffective.
And communications is very important for this, that’s why the Iranian government (as well as other authoritarian governments) wants to cut off internet connections.

The South Korean National Intelligence Service (NIS) has been involved in several controversial cases in the past, including the assassination of President Park Chung-hee.
In some crime themed manhwa, the NIS is also portrayed as a terrifying organization in the eyes of the police and the public.
