I don’t think going phoneless would be a great idea because emergencies happen and people need to communicate but society would probably be better if kids weren’t glued to smartphone apps and social media from a young age. The smart watch or dumb phone idea makes sense to me though.

If you can only have one utensil and one dish it’d have to be a spork and one of those shallow bowl/plate hybrid things, right…?

Genuine question, how the heck do people who have a ton of social media accounts (some for a business, some for different topics, some they haven’t used in ages and maybe forgot about or lost the login for) actually list them all? If it were me, depending on the platforms required, I don’t even know where I’d begin. I very well might genuinely forget one I made 3 years ago, used for a month, and abandoned.

This is super fucked up. I use Stylus extensively to customize the UI on so many sites. Not even for adblocking or that kind of thing, but for accessibility. I actually learned to code many years ago specifically so I could write my own userstyles so that popular websites would be more accessible for me. This is not just predatory on an ads and money level but on an accessibility level too.

I don’t really enjoy these activities on their own, but I do enjoy some activities that I can do in conjunction. Listening to music or podcasts can be done at the same time as almost any workout. If you are working out at home, you could even watch tv or something. I enjoy being able to play a game or browse the web on my phone if I’m using a stationary bike. Basically what makes it tolerable for me is what I can do at the same time.

For some people it’s not that simple. Some folks aren’t technical enough to spin up an instance of any software. Other people have specific accessibility needs that may not be covered by any remaining options.

Genuine question, was airport security not tightened up worldwide after 9/11? I remember as a kid I would go through security quickly and be able to have someone at the gate waiting for me. That was never a thing after 9/11. Did the rest of the world not also have these changes? I guess for me I’m an extreme case because I live in NYC. I have no clue how it affected people across the country even, let alone in other countries. In my defense I was only 7 at the time.

Some people genuinely don’t realize the delivery person doesn’t get paid much. I didn’t even know for the longest time that the “delivery fee” apparently does not go to the driver. That’s an issue with DoorDash and similar apps’ messaging to the users. My tips have gone up since I learned that the delivery fee is apparently not for the delivery person. It’s not always malice on the customer’s part though. Sometimes it’s genuine misunderstanding.
