Israeli authorities screened footage of Hamas’s October 7 atrocities to Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg and other pro-Palestinian flotilla participants upon their arrival in Ashdod on Monday, shortly after the IDF intercepted their ship, the Madleen, in international waters.
According to Defense Minister Israel Katz, the activists refused to continue watching the film after seeing the brutality of the attacks.
"These antisemitic flotilla activists closed their eyes to the truth and once again proved they prefer the murderers over the victims,” Katz said. “They continue to ignore the atrocities committed by Hamas against Jewish and Israeli women, the elderly, and children.”
The activists were given the option to sign a voluntary departure form or face arrest after 96 hours. Among those refusing to leave is French MEP Rima Hassan.
Hassan has previously drawn wide criticism for her denial that the Bibas family, excluding Yarden Bibas, were murdered, her claim that the October 7 massacre was “legitimate” and her insistence that Palestinians in Europe should be allowed to join the “resistance.”
So Israel is doing the „But they are doing it too!” thing
Are we in kindergarten or what?
Is no one going to say or do anything about the fact that Israel illegally “intercepted” another ship in international waters?
Also arrested for what? They weren’t even under Israeli jurisdiction when picked up.
Sweden threw her under the bus, along with the rest of the West.
The entire earth’s waters are under the USA’s jurisdiction, didn’t you know? Maybe you should read some more CNN news stories about China’s evil navy trying to take over the South China Sea from the USA, who obviously should have more control over the South China Sea than China does. And the Israeli Navy is just another branch of the American Navy, which has the second largest air force in the world (after the American Air Force).
All legal under the letter of international law pertaining to military engagement. That it is in international waters is irrelevant legally speaking. See the legal grounds for the sinking of Belgrano for a clearer example. As long as they can think of a halfway credible excuse that they think the vessel will cause aid to their enemy, they have the right to interdict it in international waters.
The Belgrano was a military ship, this one isn’t. So even if you’re right regarding military vessels, I doubt the same would hold for a civil one.
Distinction isn’t made. A civilian ship could be conducting or supporting military operations (see Q ships, zelensky’s “civilian” container trucks etc).
As with many things, it basically comes down to who has the bigger gun. Until a naval power pulls its finger out and starts escorting relief ships, Israel is at liberty to seize them.
There’s no footage from October 7th that comes close to what happens in Gaza every fucking day.
Peaceful protestor held at gunpoint refuses to watch violent propaganda.
As such, branded as hypocrite.
Modern politics.
Delivering baby formula to certain people seen specifically as a form of protest by all media.
Modern politics.
Isreal knew Oct 7 was coming.
Source: I know this sounds crazy but trust me
They did, it has been proven beyond any doubt because they openly admitted it. They also willfully ignored warnings from military officials. Also the pager operation was already in progress months before Oct 7 so they were planning all out war with the whole region for a while.
