    1. Sorry yes I meant 1000km, not 100km, like in my other question.

If you mean 1000km, still the same time, because in both cases, the driver needs to take 30mins mandatory rest breaks.

And refueling time? Hours for the EV. A minute for the diesel.

Truck drivers have mandatory rest breaks…

If you think truck drivers abide by these mandatory rest breaks you’re delusional.

EV are 80%+ cheaper PER KM to operate. Diesel is substantially worse now, and every year, batteries are getting CHEAPER. Diesel is getting MORE EXPENSIVE!

EVs might be cheaper to operate, but not when you already have diesel vehicles that don’t need to be replaced for another 600k+ km. Battery manufacturing costs are getting cheaper, but cost to consumer is staying the same, and will only increase as we become more dependant on it.

I would love to buy a $35k BYD Atto 2 and pay a few bucks to recharge it…but I already have an owned outright diesel runaround car that gets 800km to a ~$60 tank. How long would it take me to make $35k in savings after buying the BYD? Much longer than the lifespan of the BYD.

When you’re in the market for a new car, EVs are super attractive. When you’ve already got a car, however, switching to one makes zero sense.

Again, 300 mining trucks have been ordered by Fortescue… I’m sure they’ve done the maths

Cool, lets see them actually receive and use them before we go and claim victory. Many companies have ordered fleets of electric vehicles to replace their diesel/petrol ones only to never actually drive a single km with them.

Truck drivers a month ago “wahhh, diesel is so expensive, we demand the government gives us handouts, we’ve been struggling for so long and we don’t get paid much”. I simply compare to EV’s, and suddenly apparently diesel ISN’T expensive, and 30mins of your time, is super valuable and costs the company a huge amount. Most truckies return to the depot multiple times in a day (where they could charge). They’re not all doing interstate trips…

I’m not sure what decade you’re living in either. I used to drive a small toyota hatchback, and 20 years ago it cost more than $30 for 800km. Unless your car is a ride on mower, I doubt it lol

What I find particularly hilarious is the prolific racism amongst Truckies (particularly on facebook), especially those claiming they don’t speak english well… And yet, I’ve mentioned multiple times how BYD Blade batteries are full enough in 5 mins (actually 97% charge in 10), and apparently you keep missing it. Full charge is NOT important. In fact, in Aviation, you rarely fly with full tanks
