This exactly. Brexit was a direct response to the EU planning to introduce legislation that would have exposed all the dirty money that goes through London. Brexit was essentially orchestrated by a tiny group of financiers and billionaires who are all up to their eyeballs in the dirtiest money they can get their gammon fingers into.
The funny thing is that, if left to themselves, the EU would have watered down that legislation to the point of irrelevancy.
It was also the case that Putin wanted to weaken the EU and to damage the UK’s economy. Johnson, Farage and Aron Banks all have long-standing connections to Russia and to expat Russian oligarchs. So does Steve Bannon. Cambridge Analytica had a big role in Brexit winning, and Bannon launched it (with money from the US fascist oligarchs, the Mercer family). Brexit was a beta test for MAGA.
